MLGW uses ML cables and sserial cables for two-way communication where Lintronic uses IR for mainly one way communication and can control certain products over serial protocol.

MLGW is made by B&O and works with the products and the lintronic box is a third party accessory that only sends commands to the b&o equipment over ir.

Hi Michael,

thank you,
yes I realize that the mlgw is directly involved in the network mL,  but which benefits do i have, when I integrate a light system and a preamplifier only  into the system?

Most remote systems are only one way anyway.

and the 2 way function of beo6 is realized over w-lan.

Hello again,

The biggest benefit as I see it is that you can have a hidden installation without the need for IR-eyes on your lighting system and preamp. I do think MLGW is very overpriced and probably not worth it in most cases. If the lintronic box works well that might be all it takes.

Some light systems also work directly with B&O and the Beo-remotes. So in some cases you dont even need anything else.

You can easily combine the Master Link with an existing KNX installation (or other installation, see manual). You can create some buttons on Beo5/6 and you can control whatever exists in your installation (Light, Heater, Blinds, ...)

Right, If you just want to control some LC2s and a third-party preamp in your livingroom the Lintronic box is the better choice. If you want to control a more complex home automation system like a KNX/EIB system and/or RS232 devices I`d recommend an MLGW.

A lot of people think the MLGW is overpriced, because they don`t know what this gateway is able to do. I have a mainroom and seven linkrooms, so I`d need eight Lintronic boxes, one for every room. Would have meant a lot of additional cabling, labour for hiding boxes and ir eyes and programming...and the MLGW was less expensive.
