Firstly I apologise if this issue has been previously discussed a million times.
I recently purchased a Beocenter 7000 and was frankly amazed considering the price I paid at how well everything worked, including the cassette player.
But not for long, soon after the tape mechanism stopped altogether. I opened the machine to find the main tape drive belt had wound itself around the motor pulley and there was also a blown 1 amp fuse, presumably caused by the excess load on the motor.
Replaced the fuse and fitted aftermarket belt kit from ebay.
Now the mechanism plays, fast forwards and reverses but the tape motor is constantly humming when the machine is in tape mode and an even louder humming noise is heard over the speakers when playing a tape, with the music faintly heard in the background.
Has anyone any experience of this? Could it be connected with the non OEM belt or have I missed something else?
Many thanks
Andy (Manchester)
Did you replace earth lead connected to screw that holds tape player?
Does the deck play at the correct speed? The motor may have been damaged by the seizure,or may have become tight and bearings dried out while standing for some years unrepaired?
