I was planning a while ago if an update to my server would be necessary, to try a new Mediaserver instead of the recommended Twonky server for the Moment. Until now I had unconditional trust in the B&O faqs, my dealers word and the B&O Moment’s manual. Today that has changed.

I finally found the time to update El Capitan on my Mac mini to the latest release and give Serviio 1.6 media server an opportunity.

In using for some time the Serviio server on my Windows machine to provide video content to my V1 television, I am delighted about how well Serviio is functioning in delivering my movies.

After restarting the Mac mini I installed the new Serviio server, pointing it to some music directories and let it load my music.

After all was done (loaded some 7500 music files), I went to the Moment opened the back cover and pointed the DLNA button to the new DLNA source.

All well, loading progress appears in the About menu. After some 5 minutes I went back to the Moment to take a look and the About menu showed me all was done… 5 Minutes for 7500 music files, first thought was can’t be true, mostly it take more then an hour or more with Twonky…

Installed the aluminium cover back on the Moment and looked surprised to find all my music files, m3u playlist appearing all well on the Jukebox screen. All cd’s appeared good also with covers and so on, and after pushing a DLNA playlist I made myself, it started to play immediate without any interruption. I am still baffled!

Has anyone tried a different media server on the Moment or Essence, different from the recommended Twonky 7.2.7.

If so, what are you’re experiences?

I will have to give Serviio a try.  I have the latest beta version of Twonky that is not doing so well on my Mac mini.  The previous non-beta version of Twonky had a memory leak that would bring my system to a stand still, so they had me try this beta for debugging purposes.  For some reason the memory leak disappeared, but after Twonky is running for about 12 hours it starts eating away at my CPU and the fans in the system spin like crazy!  I've been hoping to find a good replacement.

I used the latest version of Twonky, but after upgrading to El Capitain on my iMac it started to behave badly in cooperation with my Moment. I have a NAS connected to the iMAc to host my musicfiles.

Have now gone back to  Twonky 7.2.7 and all works well. I wonder if its worth while to switch to e.g. Serviio. Will it be possible to install the Serviio directly on a Synology NAS?

Thanks! I set it up on my NAS and pointed Moment to it. I have done pin resets on both jukebox and soundheart, but still cannot see my music.

Do I need a full reset of everything?

I don't have a NAS, so no experience with this system.

I just powered off my Moment, and next did the necessary El Capitan updates to the mini. Removed Twonky completely and installed Serviio on the mini, and pointed the music directory's for dlna delivery in the Serviio console. Waited until all files were loaded.

Powered the Moment again and pointing it to the new server name in the DLNA menu. Done and all well, playing in minutes.

No pin resets done, just did a renew of the content in the menu...

Wait, shouldn't the moment take hours and hours to analyze the library? Has the SW for the moment been updated to negate this time consuming music analysis? I must be missing something here.

Can you tell if your NAS is on the same subnet (network/router) as your BeoSound Moment?
Do you see the DNLA server (NAS) on your BeoSound Moment?

Does anyone have experience with PlexMedia server on synology?

Greetings,

There are two stages in the DLNA processing by the Moment: first to build the library (reasonably fast, less than 1hour for 32k track) and tracks are playable via the app, second to build the MoodWheel list and here it takes several hours, 1h per 1000 tracks I have been told.

Hi, I use Plex with my iMac for my essence mk2 set up. Works very well, all info and artwork carried through and nice and quick - no problems as yet. I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but thought may be of interest to you.

Serviio is not finding all my songs unfortunately. Very odd. Totally random. That's why I thought that Moment did not find my music through Serviio.

I have now gone back to Twonky.

Learned that Serviio is not supporting Apple Lossless in current version. Version 1.7 will do.

Probably the root cause for my trouble.
