Just got a Beomaster 7000 in the mail that doesn't seem to respond to any remotes. I've tried two BL1000's, a MCP 6500, and a BL7000. In addition to not receiving any commands, it's also not sending any status information to the MCP or the BL7000.
I saw posted elsewhere to try pressing sound, 1, store on the BL1000, but that had no effect.
Any ideas? It turns on and plays fine if I press play on my turntable, so it seems to be isolated to just the IR system.
Hi,
the option setting only works, when the master is on stand-by. Did you try that way?
Or the further owner didn't know about the option - 0 (remote off) and disconnected the IR-receiver.
Chris
That was it, I wasn't on standby. Thanks so much!
Hi Chris,
Thanks for pointing this out. I was refurbushing my Beomaster 7000 (timer & NVM did not work; replaced) but suddenly my BM did not respond to IR anymore; it did through my MCL.
I did not realize the IR reception could be switched off.... I only knew on the 2-way / 1-way. Where is this documented?
Did the magic sound -1 - store and it's like new :)

Chris, et. all,
Found the document; MCL Handbook. Actually I recall that this option exists but I don't need it in my system. Wasted some time to find an issue in the IR receiver circuitry which I found was ok .
This option is stored in the NV RAM and strangely enough default of a blank NV RAM (i.e. 0000's) is no IR. (other items stored in NV RAM are (which I did know); AM/FM programmes, sound options (Volume, Balance, bass, treble, loudness) and of course the calendar/clock.
From the service manual it indicates using the testmode 7 the option should be set to '1'; I did not do the reset after replacing the NV RAM.(AM/FM programmes are erased, balance, bass, treble, loudness all nutral, volume=26, calender/clock 890101 00:00)
Again, thanks for helping me.
Sounds like you've changed the backup battery.
In that case, some basic (re)sets has to be done.
More difficult will be setting the correct FM indication when tuned on a radiostation.
