A neighbor has one of these with the Beo4 selling for $200. I'm wondering if it is worth it, being CRT and if what kind of screen quality it has.

Thanks,

Max

Hi Max, Avant 32 is a very good item with an amazing sound. Try to know if you have the surround sound (option 5.1) PIP (picture in picture) and set top box inside. The image of Avant is the best in the years 90 and you can use now with many new products (exemple: Apple tv 1/2 ,numeric decoder,Dab ,spotify with apple and airparrot etc),you can connect with the Masterik a Beosound ,an another TV  and four active loud speakers.

Sorry for my English.

If it's a neighbour and that more or less eliminates any transport problems then it could be a bargain, especially if its history is known.

Picture quality and sound is exceptional.  The only disadvantage now is that CRT is out of fashion, and whilst the Avant does a fantastic job of disguising the bulky CRT it is now up against cheap new slim LED screens and the like.

I should have added that if it is a flat screen Avant with a DVD player built in it is more desireable than the earlier curved screen with VHS player.

if it's the earlier model I would bargain the price down.

And be careful:

The lifetime of the CRT itself  is not the best and many Avants has renewed CRTs - but often with only second grade CRTs (cheaper)

Picked it up today and it is gorgeous!  And heavy. Everything seems to work, although I haven't used all the inputs yet.  I was pleasently suprised that it had Toslink, as i was worried it only had digital coax. Manufacture date Dec. 2002 50-60 Hz.   Apparently this American model doesn't have a VCR or DVD?  It's the curved screen, but I got it for $75.  Thanks for the help everyone.  Mario Kart never looked so good.

Hi, Look on the front ,between loudspeakers and the front blue panel, you can see a hatch for the VCR.

Still my favourite B&O television.

Superb looks, picture and sound.

I checked that bar is on solid piece. I'm not complaining, I don't have any tapes, just thought it was interesting as I thought they all had either a DVD or VCR. The projector out is kind of neat, it'd be cool if there was a VGA in.

I did! And the sound is great. I love the motorized stand. Has anyone who has used it for just music done anything about possible burn in for the CRT?

Sorry for my English, i don't understand "burn in" but i think you want to use the Beovision just for the music without screen, it's possible ,you can hear spotify with apple TV and airparrot 2 ,with itunes , with your TV (Channel music) and other devices ,you must use your Beo 4 and push TV-AV-TV ,your TV screen close and you can hear all input.

I hope i can help you.

No problem, "burn in" is when a picture is left on a screen for too long, and it the phosphor pixels keep a part of the image "burned in" to the screen.

I will try the tv-av-tv.  I had tried to find the p-mute function on the Beo4, but appearently my model doesn't have it.  Also, I had an iPad hooked into the top ports on the set, and selected "camcord"  and after that the set would not respond to any inputs on the remote at all.  I had to unplug it.  Anyone else experience this?

Hi,thank you for the translation. If you want to find P-mute ,you need to open the hidden listen in the Beo 4.Push both red button and list together and after choose ADD with the list button ,if you use an Ipad or Ipod on the TV ,you need a special cable by Apple to transfert in analog video and not the cable for the numeric.
