Hi everyone,

Just another quick question.  Could anyone shed some light on:

  • If all existing speakers in the B&O range will likely change to RJ 45 in lieu of powerlink
  • Or is it just new speakers a la BL12 that will feature the new connection
  • How will this affect if you would like say a BeoSound 5 Encore (i know Paul you're not a fan lol - but I am :-) ) and want to connect to the new connections.

Thanking you

- Michael.

There are allready cables with RJ45 in one end and Powerlink conenctors in ther other end. Also there are third parties adapters comming (if not allready avalible).

I guess they will change it to RJ45 connectors when they are making revisions of the existing equipment along the way.

Hi Michael,

I understand from speaking to staff at Struer recently that existing master products (eg. TVs and audio systems) and speakers will continue to have 8pin DIN Powerlink sockets fitted until they are next re-designed or removed from production. All new products (including a very interesting one due the next couple of weeks! Whistle ) will be released with RJ45 sockets for both Powerlink and Line input (where applicable).

B&O produce cables for these new products (which currently include BeoVision 12, Beolab 12 and BeoPlay V1), plus I have had special adapters made to allow easy conversion between traditional Powerlink and the new RJ45 connections (please see my sponsor link below for more details). Confusingly, B&O also refer to the new RJ45 plugs as Powerlink, so it may not always be apparent when reading their product details exactly which sockets are fitted. I am always happy to help if you need any clarification.

To connect between "old" (ie. 8pin DIN) Powerlink and "new" (ie. RJ45) Powerlink, you just need a normal 8pin DIN Powerlink cable and then clip on a DIN to RJ45 adapter at the end where the newer product is fitted, so this allows for easy connection between old and new products such as Beosound 5 Encore to Beolab 12.

It also makes it easy to change from an Avant or Beovision 7 with older Beolab speakers to a V1 or Beovision 12, without needing to change any wiring - just clip on the new adapters and plug them into the TV.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Thanks Michael!

Although I'm sworn to secrecy about the new product, I didn't say it was a speaker.........  Wink

Cheers, Steve.
