Hi all,
just bought a great looking beomaster 8000. Everything works grate except some led's on the display. But there is another annoying thing. When turning up the volume to 3.5 (or higher) what is over the half of the volume output the sound is not so strong at all and the clipping sine starts to blink what indicates that the beomaster thinks that sound is loud- but it is not so loud as one would think and my speakers Beovox Pentas what can handle the 150 W easily start making not so pure sound ( I also tested the same issue whit my Red Line speakers with the same result). Tested also bought speaker outputs on right and left
There is no humming noise or nothing else wrong with it what should indicate that the caps are gone...
Are I missing something here, some setting , some knob to turn or what?

Methinks it does shows that it badly needs to be serviced instead.

A little update on the Beoaster 8000.
After speaking to Martin (Dillen known here) and Beolover I decided not to repair it my self and accidentally destroying it my self with no knowledge. So I found nice repairman here in Finland (Helsinki) and as I understand he is very skilled. He's an older gentleman now, but as I understand he was the guy who has done Bang Olufsen repairs all hes life. Well I give my BM 8000 to him last week and got it back yesterday. And it works now very nicely.
Now for the fault it had:
The left channel was overheating very fast and clipping sign started to flash when volume was at 3 or some times even 2.5 and the bass vs very bad and made bad noise and the volume power it self was very low. So these ware the symptoms with my Beomster 8000.
He said that after checking the Beomaster there was a very big problem with stand-by power and that was the main problem with this device.
So he did this:
-All the caps in the power supply were out of specs and needed to replaced.
-All the trimmers are now replaced on the left and right channel and readjusted cording to specs. The trimmers were all bad. For me it was a big surprise. I opened it up before I give it to him and for me everything looked super clean inside. But I think this is the problem with trimmers in bm 8000 -no matter how clean they look , they still have problems. As I remember reading from Beomaster 8000 Restoration pages here on Beoworld.
- One of the Darlington on the left channel (got very hot) was all so out of specs and was relapsed as well.
-The Programming hatch did not open all the way and he addressed this mater as well and now it works as it should be.
There is still one or two missing segments on the displays but this is a job that I can do my self thanks to Beolovers very good tutorial. I want to change them all to modern leds. But for now I just enjoy it as it is :)
Channel wheel and volume wheel are spinning with no resistance. So I ask him if he happens to have original Bang Olufsen dampening grease. And he did have a fairly big jar of it. He got it sometime in 1980 directly from Bang Olufsen so he give me little bit to do this job my self. At-least I can alsodo something to my Beomaster to make it work as it should be.
