... if it works seamlessly with the Avant :-)

After my first purchase from STB Brackets the Clamper system for my avant, I bought from STB Brackets recently the Toshiba blu ray player and bracket, and that works seamless with the Avant.  You put the disc in, it auto changes the input and opens the curtains when the movie starts and you can use it with your BR1

Noop - not for me. Streaming is more convenient and I'm not bothered by the extra 10% picture/sound or the latest 10% TV capabilities like HDR. I have blu-ray today and don't think I've played one in 18 months. Whereas my Apple TV is used every day.

Every year there will be another small step forward in TV quality and the Avant was the right jumping on point.  The next jumping on point will be when the screen technology itself takes its next leap and that is 2 years from now, by which time my Avant will be 4 years old and ready for a change cycle and a balanced trade-in price.

I so agree with Mawheele on this one. The streaming services from Netflix, Amazon and Vimeo are getting so good that in all honesty it's THE SCREENS that really need to improve now! The new Amazon Fire 4K is damn excellent and watching a skiing film 'Fade to Winter' streaming in 4K from Vimeo on a SONY 4K TV was simply breathe taking! I really couldn't see how they could improve on that to the human eye!

You can always wait.

But the general opinion seems to be that there will be a new beovision in the next couple of months. So at this point in time, yes, I would wait.

No matter what comes, the Avant and the BV11 will still be amazing tv's.

To answer the question: if the 'coming BV' will have HDR support - and I am able to buy it - I surely would buy one of the new BRP's. But I probably would wait untill OPPO brings one.

No matter how convinient streaming services are, they don't exclude the use of a BRP in my world.

Agree Mr Cat the Avant and the Bv 11 are amazing tv's fab picture from both  would have taken the Bv 11 if upgraded to 4k with hdr ect or the Avant but lacking some stuff.

As the new Bv's are going to run Andorid that will mean 4k streaming with hevc decoding and the one other thing which would be nice would be a display port on the back!

As for streaming its getting better with hdr being added but for pic and bit rate disc is the way for now!

Hi Bv7Mk3,

I do understand your desire the have the latest features, especially with the new set just around the corner. But I can honestly say that whilst the 4K and HDR upgrade will be worthwhile features, it still seems surprising to me that TV suppliers continue to focus on embedding so-called Smart functionality. That game is lost already.

I'd look at Amazon, Apple, maybe Roku for extended TV capabilities in an external unit as your best option. And in terms of streaming, these guys know it better and have the back-end infrastructure to support it. They've spent 100's millions to ensure the performance is right with the CDN infrastructure, edge-storage etc.

The solution you are proposing is great if you feel the future is Netflix. I'm not sure that game has even started yet, lots of bidding wars to play out yet and companies with very deep pockets.

As for 4K and HDR, they are sure things with a future and lucky are those who get those new capabilities.

I am not sure, that I would agree on that - especially not when it comes to a B&O tv set.

Whilst the main current SmartTV function of the BV's is utterly crap, we should consider and appreciate, that things like Youtube, Spotify, Deezer is handled as normal sources by B&O. You don't even have to think of these as SmartTV features! You just push the assigned button on the remote or choose the entey in the Source List of the BV.

I would very much hope, that this will be carried over to the next gen B&O SmartTV - even adding things like Netflix as a source just like the tv tuner and the HDMI/Puc-controlled sources. This would not be possible with a SmartTV from an external device like the ATV, Fire-box etc.

Difficult to say. Historically, B&O screens are at least a year, very often more 'out of date' compared to current technology. I am guessing that the next generation tv won't be OLED but I am hoping I am wrong. B&O likes to wait to see what settles as a market standard before taking the plunge and in many ways I find this a sensible approach. I wonder if it's still too early for the jump to OLED. Besides, would they switch from Samsung to LG to source the screens at this stage? Bottom line, could go either way. We will know soon enough.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Is the new tv in april the replacement of the V1?

I don't think that's a oled screen.
