Hi everyone,

A quick introduction first, my name is Marcus and I have fairly limited experience of B&O outside of owning a pair of Beolab 4 PCs a few years back (thanks for the deal Lee!) and my trusty A8s which i've had for 12 years now.

I recently emmigrated to the U.S and decided to treat myself to a pair of Beolab 3s. I want to run sound to the Beolabs from my Samsung TV which has optical out and audio out (analog) options. My first thought was to go with analog simply because of cost (Beolab 3s are 850 quid more than UK list over here!), but would it be worth getting a DAC to route digital audio out of the TV and then to the Beolab 3s? My usage is basically TV, Movies and iTunes (320bps AAC files). Would the difference in audio be noticeable and has anyone ever done a comparison? Thanks!

Hi Mark and welcome to Beoworld,

Have you considered the Connection Hub, which is part of the BeoPlay S8 speaker set, but also can be purchased solo.

See the user guide here:

There is a thread on the forum about that as well:

Hi

We have a very similar history.

I also started with the BL4PC which i still have, then I went to on to purchas a Beosound 8 (A8) and then went to treat myself to a pair of BL3s which i have but dont really use lol.

Another worthwhile addition is perhaps you could look at BL17s - they're newer, cheaper, sound great, have WISA if perhaps you ever change your TV from the Samsung to a B&O tv integrate well.  Or if you keep your Samsung you could use a Transmitter 1 and they become wireless. It also has optical input too.
