Hi
I have a BM6500 in my study connected to a link system. I plan to have the BM in a sideboard with turntable on the top - the BM is connected to a pair of Beolab 8000's, I have an extra speaker kit connected and can control the beomaster volume and source etc through the x-tra speaker kit when the doors on the sideboard are closed, however I cannot switch the beomaster on or mute the speakers with the door closed.
Is there an option setting on either the beomaster (tried Option 1,2 and 0) or the x-tra speaker that I need to use? or can it simply not be done or is there something else I should buy to enable control of it whilst out of sight?
Have you tried Option 2 for both the BM6500 and the X-tra Speaker kit? To get the X-tra Speaker kit to Option 2, when everything is off use Link, 2, Store. If that doesn't work, I believe you need an X-tra Active Speaker kit for this. The MCL2AV has PL outputs for the BL8000s. This may not be optimal.
I tried doing the same thing with my BM7000 and BL8000s using an MCL2A, but couldn't get the full functionality that I wanted.
The other option is to use a Beolink Converter (1612) with a Beolink Active. This may be a better approach.
first: are the plugs plugged in speaker 2
second: be sure the wiring is correct
This is a setup/config for 2 Audio masters in one room:
Set your BM6500 to A.OPT0. Now it won`t respond to any ir commands.Connect an MCL2A Kit (extra speaker kit) to SPEAKER2 sockets and connect your speakers (passive?) to your MCL box.Set the extra speaker kit to L.OPT4.Now you can contol your BM6500 in LINK mode, pressing for example LINK - RADIO.This can also be programmed as a one button command to your Beo5.
If you change the extra speaker kit to L.OPT2 you might not need to use LINK - RADIO, but can you RADIO instead (but this it only a guess, never tried this...).

Sorry, just saw you want to use active speakers, you will need a
X-TRA ACTIVE SPEAKER KITThe X-tra active speaker kit contains an MCL 2AV panel, a transceiver, a mains adaptor, [a Beolink 1000 wall fixture as well as fittings forinstallation]
OR - if you BM6500 has the optional connection (a cable hanging out on the back), you can attach a Sensor!!We have a white Beosystem 6500 that is temporarily setup like this.
Hi there
Thanks for the replies - tried varies things but still no joy - guess I can open the door to turn it on if I needed too but it i the mute that's the problem as I have it on whilst I am working.
Just a thought but there is a blanked off socket with preamp out an power amp in - not sure what type of lead I would need but I wondered if I had one that went into the line in on Beolabs if that work with the extra speaker it taking the commands to switch on and off etc? Anyone know if it is a 5 pin din that does the line in/out - I suspect not but wanted to check before taking it out of the cabinet?
