I bought my first BS2 about 4 years ago and it cost about £100 including some A8s. It broke last year and I sold it for parts on eBay to a Chinese buyer for £140. Now I was looking for a replacement and they seem to go north of £200, but they have a user interface that Noah would feel comfortable with. What's happened?

I've seen them listed for crazy prices, but I've never actually seen anyone buy one... not that I look that often... maybe there is a cult following somewhere.  I still enjoy mine...

I'd still like to have one, despite the painfully slow iTunes interface and the limited capacity, but I'm not prepared to fork out the same ££££ as they cost new on the second-hand market.

I gave up trying to understand eBay prices a long time ago...

You answered your own question right at the start there - you sold a broken one to a Chinese buyer for £140! Working ones fetch even more - but they're nearly always snapped up by Asian buyers for some reason.... Erm..

Hence the reason I noted the location of the buyer. I have not posted much on here in the past 18 months, as I have drifted away from the hobby, but I have disposed of over 1/2 my collection in that time and noticed that much of the bidding activity has come from the far east. Thankfully some of the more precious items have remained in the UK, meaning shorter transit times and (supposedly) more trustworthy courier firms. I also collect pens and watches, and believe a similar trend has emerged in those areas over the past few years.

Maybe I'll have to use my iPhone instead :(

It definitely seems as though the smaller bits and bobs filter their way over that way, maybe as trinket items as their economy grows and the brand becomes stronger in that market.

Personally I've never experienced any issues sending items that way - so long as I charge the buyer for the best possible/tracked/insured postal option that is! Wink

iPhone sound isn't too bad with a pair of A8's! Failing that, try to find a used BeoSound 6?
