Hi all,
I've got a 9331 MK3 Beovision 7, built in 2006. It's got the latest software update. I'm planning on getting a pair of Beolabs 20, but I cannot select those in the loudspeaker type selection menu.
Options are BL4000, BL6000, BL8000, Penta, BL3, BL5.
Which type should I select when connecting BL20's and: what exactly does this menu do? What difference does it make?
Thanks!
Hi jjcox,
I would personally try the Beolab 9 option (if available) or (if not) Beolab Penta in the TV menu when connecting Beolab 20, as the performance of these speakers is broadly similar. This allows the TV to give the correct amount of bass to these speakers, compared to your other connected speakers.
You just need one of these cables to connect each speaker to the TV: http://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/31-rj45-to-powerlink-compatible-all-in-one-cable-convert-new-2013-ethernet-powerlink-to-traditional-8-pin-din-powerlink.html
Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your suggestions! I don't have the BL9 option, but I do have the BL1 (which I forgot in my original post).
I'm getting the cables for free from my dealer, so those are covered.
Your reply raises one more question, though. When you talk about the amount of bass compared to the other connected speakers, does this mean that in Speaker 2 mode, when only the BL20's are active, the setting in the menu doesn't make a difference to the sound? (that would be a relief, actually).
Thanks again,
Joeri
Hi Joeri,
No problem, Beolab 1 is probably the best match for your Beolab 20 speakers from the list on your TV. The TV will manage bass between the speakers (including a subwoofer if present) when multiple speakers are playing. When only the Beolab 20s are connected, the TV will not have so much influence over the sound sent to the speakers, although it should ensure that the speakers don't receive large amounts of sub-bass that could cause damage.
Another thing learned, thank you :-).
Best regards, Joeri
