My first one was a BM 901, got it wrong way around so the visor was working backward.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I just got in a Tandberg 3011A Tuner for restoration - the first one I've done of this type.

Inside, it looks just like a BeoMaster of the same era - uses even the same IC's - TCA420 and MC1310.

It also uses the same little separate Front-end box, and is voltage controlled.

The circuit looks closest to the BM2000/3400.

But a bit better quality - some of the PCB's are FR4, instead of the B&O paper-based Pertinax.

Looking forward to a couple of days of fun with this.

Wasn't this top of the range at the time?

edit: top was 3001

That's why they canceled the performance of Kenny G and the Boston Pops on TV. Yup, too much sax and violins on TV these days...Whistle

Superb work Leslie, it is above my competences.

I am wondering where you find time to do all that.

Merci Alain, it's fun to do and every hour of my leisure time I spend working on my B&O toys, keeps me of the street... But fun is over now, two weeks on a business trip is coming.

Leslie,

You have a real gift for doing what you do, exceptionally well.

The outside is no less important than the insides of these fine products, and I'm not ashamed to admit that while I am known to do a superb job on the electronic insides, your external cosmetic refinishing is far and above my standard for the same type of work.

Keep it up!

Definitely true Menahem, Leslie is quite the perfectionist and craftsman. And for B&O in particular how they look is of great importance, one of the reasons we all buy Beo stuff is the appearance. Which is why seeing eBay sales if such obviously damages and marred gear is so disheartening.

Selfishly, I wish Leslie lived on my continent....

Embarrassed and Lets have a Party !!!

Thank you Menahem and Jeff!

Everybody has his skills. I enjoy working with tools (e.g. my hands). But on the other side I always admire members who can do the electronic stuff and God I wish I had this knowledge. I tried several times to recap vintage stuff but the only result I get is lots of smokeSuper Angry.

Anyway, this evening I had a few hours left after a great diner with my wife so I took a Beocord 1200 to refurb it cosmetically. Now you can see where my skills stops and that's because one channel of this recorder does not workSad And I need a belt for the counter. Martin?

Doing some recapping...

Tip: dont try to solder these off, take a good hold and twist a little. Saves your board.

I know that PCB - from the last version of the BC9300, with the CDM12-4 laser, right?

Might also be in other machines of the same generation.

Never adjust that transformer between the 2 big caps - it looks very tempting, I know, but don't do it! Don't ask me how I know...................
