Paul W: Thanks Flappo! Hehe Yes I think I am! But seriously, i'm convinced that the BV10 is simply the nicest television ever and with an Apple TV box it's worry free. I use Handbrake to convert other file types to MP4 and it does a wonderful job. Each to their own I guess.

I'm very happy with the V1/Apple TV3 combo. I also use handbrake, and iFlicks to convert other file types, to MP4 and catalogue them with playlists etc in iTunes, from whence I stream to the Apple TV, using either my iPhone 4s or the iPad 3 as a controller.
Mostly because I have the Apple setup I've yet to try the media browser, but as I understand it, the results will be almost the same, only a different methodology i.e. using the V1's media browser to search for media on my Hard Drive, as against 'pushing' it to the Apple TV, connected by HDMI to the V1. And then of course there is the DLNA v's UPnP thing to consider I guess. Well, i haven't tried to connect the V1 to my Apple HD via media browser as yet, so it may be dead easy. I hope so - I hate having to faff about trying to get things to connect and work together! - call me a vacuous airhead, but I just want the result.... LOL.
I'll get around in time to setting up a PUC to control the Apple TV with the Beo4 remote, which will mean one less remote to use, albeit the iphone/ipad does a good job thus far.
If B&O bring in a 'smart tv' with the Beovision 11, and that functionality passes on to the V1 via a software update, that would be interesting to try, and would probably cause me to investigate the V1's media browser with greater interest.
I've also a Sony Bluray player, and it connects to the internet and has it's own 'smart' platform, with the ability to look up online TV shows etc.
It's all very entertaining I guess, but thus far I find the Apple TV the most useful, simply because I have a lot of saved aviation and automotive clips from the likes of YouTube etc, plus podcasts from the likes of Mercedes Benz, which I can stream to the Apple TV/V1
Truth be told, I don't watch a lot of TV, being very selective with my time and choice of viewing, but mainly use my V1 for Bluray movies which I collect and thoroughly enjoy.
I have though, listened to a number of music albums through iTunes to the AppleTV/V1 and been thoroughly and consistently impressed by the sound quality.
Paul, I know you live an out and about lifestyle, which is all good for health etc, but if not for TV, then for movie use, a BV10 would look far nicer in your apartment than something you admire from afar through a shop window.
Translated, I think you should buy one - from the likes of AV Lifestyle they're actually affordable!
The Apple TV3 is also affordable and in combination with a B&O TV does a splendid and fiddle free job.
Kind regards
John...
Great ideas John :) I too love the Podcasts section in itunes, again i've downloaded cars, DJ Club sets and live jazz :) I also love downloading from YouTube in HD - Water sports, cycling, bodybuilding, architecture & fashion.
BV10 is on my list but it's a looooong list and rather far down on it at the moment :) :) :) It would have to be a new one though as i'm not into the second life/used thing.
Always a pleasure to read your editorials John and i'm happy that you are enjoying your V1. I really like Michael's idea of the cloth over the speaker - now imagine bright orange or yellow :)
I hope you get many years of pleasure from it!
Flappo: And Paul W was vilified for saying B&O software was crap. I think he's owed an apology.
And Paul W was vilified for saying B&O software was crap.
I think he's owed an apology.
It was the messenger, not the message.
Paul was not vilified for stating the obvious.
Paul was vilified (which he wasn't) because he vilified (which he did) another member for stating the obvious.
