Just been gifted a pair of penta 1s - very pleased and grateful but suspect I already have a problem. One works fine, converting from red to green light with input and sounds great but the other seems dead. The red light came on when I switched on but then, after about ten seconds, I heard a very quiet pop and the light went off. No sound output at any time.
I'm only a newbie with these but have done plenty of soldering and electonics in the past. Assume there must be a fuse in the amp, but clearly there is likely to be a reason why the fuse blew in the first place and don't want to damage anything further down the line!
Any suggestions on a logical, step-wise approach after the fuse without going straight to replacing all of the capacitors?

Hi - did you ever sort out why your 'red light problem' happened?I think my Penta did something similar today - the LED was red for 3 or 4 seconds, then it went out - nothing since.
I'd love to hear how you fixed yours - if you found a way.

Check for cracked solder joints where the ribbon cable from the fold-out front panelgoes to the main amplifier board.

Ah - took theeasy way out by removing the amplifiers and running as passive speakers.
Hope fix works for you.
That's certainly the easy way out :)
