BeoVision 7, BeoLab 2 & 9
The above system was fitted into an apartment i bought in Spain and i want to stream music & films such as Spotify & Netflix. How do i enable my B&O system to do this?
Also, i have tried playing certain DVDs (exercise DVD T25) on the BeoVision 7 & they don't play. Is there an adjustment or upgrade to the TV i can make so the TV will recognise the format?
I look forward to hearing from you
Thanks
John
If it has hdmi simply add an Apple TV. 4 to the installation
BeoVision 11-55, BeoLab 8000, BeoRemote One BT, AppleTV 4, 2x BeoPlay A2, BeoPlay A1
It is very important, that you tell us which MK your BV7 is - with or without HDMI!!!
----
With the AppleTV you can not get Spotify directly.
Both ATV 3 and 4 has a Netflix app - if you don't have any ATV yet, I would recommend buying the version 4.
(In order to control the ATV-box with the Beo remote, you need the right PUC installed on the BV.)
However, if you are an iOS-user (iPhone/iPad) or on a Mac, you can airplay from there to the ATV.
If not/if you are an Android user or pc-user, you can buy a Spotify Connect compatible device, and connect this to one of the audio-inputs of the BV7 - and just send Spotify to that.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hi MM. I am not sure how to tell what version the TV is but i have had the back panel off and cannot see a HDMI socket.
I presume from that, that the ATV wont connect. That being the case is there a devise that will allow me to connect the TV to the internet?
Many thanks for your help btw.
What is a PUC by the way?
Hi John,
there are some possibilities, though.
However, these are dependent on whether there is a (HD Ready) scaler built in to the BV and if the software is updated.
If not installed, it will be rather expensive and these scalers are also very rare nowadays.
The PUC is a piece of software, that is loaded into the BV to act as a tranlater between the ir controls of an external non-B&O device and the B&O ir remote controls. Meas that you can control the external device with your Beo4.
in your case i would recommend a simple solution of connecting a small fanless pc (or a spare laptop) to the BV. See the user guide for how to.
From that pc you can get access to every service (Netflix, Spotify etc) you want. You could have e.g. the Plex software running there.
If you 'know how to', you can remote control the connected pc from a tablet.
P.S. For audio/Spotify it will be an easy task to connect an AirPlay device or a Spotify Connect device, a Chromecast Audio dongle....
That's a great help thank you. I have managed to connect the CD player to an Aux lead to my iPhone so can get Spotify. I am still keen to understand whether i can connect Apple TV to the BV7.
Below are the numbers for the TV if that would help:
Type No: 9364
Item No: 1818188
Serial No: 19624133
Any further thoughts?
Thanks again for your help.

That information does help. It shows it's a mark 2 Beovision 7-40 and the serial number indicates it is 'HD Ready' so supports HDCP.
You should be able to connect an Apple TV using an HDMI to DVI cable (or an ordinary HDMI cable with an HDMI / DVI adapter).
DVI though, in contrast to HDMI, does not carry audio, so you will need a separate means of getting the Audio from the apple TV to the Beovision - I'm not familiar with what audio outputs each version of Apple TV supports so I'll leave it to others to make recommendations in this respect, but it may be as simply as connecting the optical output via a TOSLINK optical to SPDIF coax converter to the digital input of the Beovision. You'll need to check the Beovision has at least the following software versions to support this setup:
DSM SW v3.01
AP SW v7.84
You'll also need to ensure PCM is set to 'ON' in the customer service menu.
To enter the customer service menu:
Press MENU
Move the cursor to highlight OPTION
Press the RED button followed (within 3 seconds) by GO
From within this 'hidden' menu you can both check the software versions meet the requirements above, and set PCM to ON if they do.
Kind Regards,
Martin.
if you want to use the newest ATV (4), you will need to seperate the sound-output from the HDMI-output, since it has no dedicated audio-out of its own.
You can use a HDMI Audio Extractor. There are different - some of these even have a coaxial/digital-out, others only R/L analog (RCA/Phono), which might (?) be fine for your 2.1 combo.
If you pick the previous ATV version (3), you can use a Toslink to Coax converter to get a digital signal for the BV7 from the Apple-box.
When you have configured the input and just want to hear the airplayed sound, push AV before 'Source', then the screen stays blank.
