I am about to pull the trigger to buy an Essence MK2 with a wall-mounted knob. A few questions:
1) Does the remote only connect via bluetooth or also via wifi to the essence basesation? I am planning to have the basestation in one room and the knob in another room, so the distance may matter and not sure whetehr bluetooth wil work with my walls to cross rooms?
2) Does the knob work in combination with multi-room? E.g., It resumes the last speaker combon (room x and y) and resumes from the last playlist played from twonky meaid server to the selected speakers)
3) How does the knob actually mount on the wall? Do I need to drill holes or can it be taped / glued?
BeoNut since '75
2: Since it uses bluetooth, the 'knob' must be paired to the actual Essence-box - and will be used with that (untill unpaired).
So the answer is: no!

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Got it, thanks! My use case was to find a way to pause all speakers (multi-room) with the click of one button. So, assume the only way to do that is with the Beomusic app or with the Moment. Not possible with the Essence remote or otherwise, right?

I am not sure there is a universe pause !
In my experience it seems to be more like a local mute ...
Others who have a true multi-room may be better able to confirm a yay or nay
Pressing the circle button for a couple of seconds turns all multiroomed devices off - if that is, what you mean.

Carolpa: the universal pause would be to stop the actual source from playing.
More like a "global pause", "global play", "global skip to next track". Is this possible when playing mulit-room from Twonky Media server?
Assume that I am playing to the Essence (connected to Beolabs), but also to a BV (connected to Beolan), an A6 and an A9. So, I have four rooms playing. When pressing "pause" on the essence knob, does all 4 rooms pause? When I press "next track". will all four rooms skip to next track, etc.
elephant: Carolpa: the universal pause would be to stop the actual source from playing. Yes - same as a long push on the Beo4's red dot; which shuts down all devices across the network. Which means that after that "pause" every device would have to be restarted. I think the OP was asking for a global mute and unmute ?

You do not have to switch down the whole system immediately! you simply stop playback of the source

You do not need global' s. Just go to an active (joined) source in the app. Then pause, play, next, previous the source. The result is the same in all the joined rooms.
Thanks and sorry - I am still struggling to understand what I can do with the knob of the essence (not the beomusic app).
Looking at the photo of the essence knob, it has 4 buttons and a wheel. What applies just to the speakers of the essence and what to all multi-room speakers?
Play - resumes last played song on the essence (but not at other speakers that have been playing the song last time? Stops just this one source from playing (when already playing). No universal function?
Silence - mutes and unmutes the local source
Next - moves to the next song for all speakers
Previous - previous song for all speakers
Wheel - local sound change
Oters? - what about the long-presses you mentioned?
Has anyone tried the Essence / knob in a multi-room set-up and can comment on my questions above? Thanks in advance!
