Hello to all.
I just un-boxed and set up my BeoGram 8002 that had been in storage for 6+ years. When I plugged it in, the platter started running at a very fast speed. The only control that had any effect was the pause button which just slowed the motion some. After a couple minutes of trying various combination of the controls to get the platter to stop the lights went out and now it's dead. I had this repaired about ten years ago when one day it died (no lights nothing worked).
Any suggestions on what the problem might be?
I would like to try repairing it myself this time as I have more time than money these days but need to know how to get the case apart to check the caps, etc. Can some one point me to where I can get a service manual, parts, etc... and do I need any test instruments? I have a good digital volt meter. Any other advice would be very much appreciated.

The service manual is available for download from our main website for silver and gold members (worth the small fee).It won't tell you how to repair anything but it may give you an idea how to get in there.
Being 30 years old, your Beogram will, just like any other Beogram of this series, need abunch of new capacitors and a good check for cracked solder joints.A cap kit is available.
With new caps, you can start diagnosing eventual remaining faults. Not before.But chances are, that new caps, good solder joints, a little cleaning and lubrication will seeit back in working condition.
