I read in an extended review somewhere the A1 sounded best with the equalizer settings off (standard) so until now did not bother to play with them. But oh boy do i disagree om that remark !!! Lounge and dance sounds even better (a lot!) when dragging tye dot to the excited quarter. And RTFM TOO, you can also change the size with a pinch to optimize to your liking even more.

Chris Townsend:

When I had it connected to my iPad mini and I opened my phone, my phone would try and also connect causing disruption. I simply turned off the Bluetooth function.

Might helpYes - thumbs up

Thanks, but unfortunately there wasn't any other devices trying to connect.. I've also experienced what you're saying though, but this is a different issue. Both are very irritating if you ask me.

Depends what you're listening to I find. Sometimes it gets too boomy on that EQ.

I ordered two. They look like bad quality but the price and shipping was hilarious.

Question for all,... is the desire for an A1 case more for protection and storage, or protection with the ability to use it without taking it out?

Just got the Moss Green one today. Great sound but I am greatly disappointet by the max volume on my Nexus 5 phone. Both on mini jack and bluetooth the unit does not go near as loud as my previous Bose SoundLink Mini Unsure Tried with my iPad instead and the sound went through the roof!! But unfortuneately the sound is dull and flat Angry Also an eerie sound is coming from the unit when charging. Hmm... Not sure what to say at this point.

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

Hi @ari - did you get any luck sorting this out?

I have 2 A1s connected to a MacMini via Bluetooth. I'm trying to pair them up but they're not liking it at all. One seems fine, but when they're in stereo it is completely unusable and usually the other speaker has no sound at all coming out, or it goes in and out, or it's all completely out of sync. Any tips anyone (there are no other devices trying to connect).

Hi Chris

The problem is most likely with the Mac mini BT card. There are often antenna and driver issues. The A1's in stereo work fine when using a mobile device such as iPhone 6, I have proved this myself. B&O recommend that you use an adaptor from creative called a BT-W2 for laptops etc. I hope that this is helpful.

This is upsetting. We should be able to just USE the B&O device without any hassle and not be required to buy a third party adapter.

In general I agree however I have a range of Apple equipment purchase from January 2009 and there are known inadequacies in various level of BT support.

It may be that his MacMini is down level like mine and my MacBook.

Anyone experiencing Bluetooth issues with their A1 ?

That is, any issues like the H8?

Issues with walls?

What's the furthest you have been away from the A1 base station before the music became choppy?

Just got one of these. Tried it. Still problems. The stereo seems to work but it is massively out of sync with the image on the MacMini, it still drops out of one speaker occasionally as well. Also, going through the BT-W2 removes the ability for the Mac to control volume.

Not happy with my A1s at the moment. Individually they're great. But as stereo. Not so much. I might take them away from the office to try.

@ Chris Hassel

The latency in stereo,- and the fragile link to the second speaker, is unfortunately a BT/Chipset issue!

Surely B&O shouldn't be promoting it then?!

You wrote: 'stereo seems to work but it is massively out of sync with the image on the MacMini'.

Do they promote that specific user case (= sound from video in stereo over bluetooth)?

Hardly any bluetooth device/s would do that!

However you could try using VLC or any other player that is capable delaying the video a bit.

That is not for me to decide. Technically it does work,- Somebody just forgot to mention HOW it works!

There are MANY products out there from other brands,- with exactly the same issues.

Although you cant do anything about the latency, you can actually avoid most of the dropout issues, the key here is getting the best possible BT master, which pretty much comes down to trial and error.

I am curious,- do you notice the white noise?

With regards to the cutting out/choppy audio I was experiencing, I found that turning off the Wifi on my Macbook temporarily immediately fixes the audio cutouts..weird it seems to happen only with my macbook pro retina.. may indicate a problem with that rather than the speaker. not sure.

USB audio via the USB-C cable is buggy too...but I love this speaker sound so damn much I can overlook these issues!!

Hello Peter and Svend fans,

I plan to have a two weeks out of the house vacation and may need a speaker for music in the place I rent.

I will go by car so place is not an issue and thought I could bring my Beolit 15 (2.7 kg).

But now I also thought is could be perfect for the wee A1 that will fit in a bag while the Beolit 15 could get damaged during transport.

I don't plan to move or go outside with the A1, but who knows ?

Is it worth spending another 250 € knowing I can bring the Beolit 15 ?

Let me know what you think !

If you have the spare 250 €, just do it!

Or take both with you ;-)

Would be nice (for us) to hear how the compare - in terms of sound quality and usability;-))
