sadly my Beogram 1902 has died, I was only getting sound out of one channel so I gave it to a friend of mine who's a radio technician and general audio repairer, he says the wires that run through the arm are perished and as they are as thin as a human hair he feels it's impossible to repair, also the part they pass through on the arm is pretty well perished and crumbling

the thing is I recently had a MMC4000 repaired by Axel which has had little use and I thought in order not to waste that or sell it which I don't want to do I would look for another turntable that I can use my MMC4000 with, any suggestions for a possible replacement to look out for, cheers

I would recommend fully the Beogram 1700. It is a little younger than the 1902 and is arguably the best radial armed deck for playing the the MMCX000/MMC20 series cartridges. Almost identical dimensions as well with the same options for wood finish.

Hi.

I have a BG2202 fitted with an MMC20EN cartridge. It's been a great deck. I bought it as a 'non working,' deck for £20, but discovered only the start button wasn't operational. I found out that by pressing 'turn' and 'stop' together the deck would start ok, and obviously stop to stop.

Not the prettiest deck B&O ever produced if I'm honest, but sounds great and has been reliable. Just a suggestion.

Graeme.

Is the MMC20EN the same as the MMC4000, so any turntable I see which has the former stylus will work o.k.

The MMC20EN was the successor to the MMC 4000. Tim Jarman's Beocentral website is good on describing the succession between the MMCX000 series and the later MMC20 series. The two series share the same cartridge mounting so are in theory interchangeable.

Hi,

with your MMC4000 you can use following turntables:

- Beogram1100 / 1102, Beogram 1500 (newer type), Beogram1600, Beogram 1700, Beogram 1900 / 1902, Beogram 2200, Beogram 2400 / 2402, Beogram 3400, Beogram 4000/4002/4004, Beogram 6000/6006, Beogram 8000, maybe I forgot few...

If your MMC4000 was repaired by Axel it would be shame not to use it with one of the better sounding (looking) Beograms. I would recommend one of the 400x series.

Somebody mentioned Beogram 1700. I can agree. It is really good deck! I The used BG1700 in good shape would be approx half a price as one of the Beogram 4000x.
