Beogram 1500 Speed problems

Hi all.

I've decided to get my dad's old Beogram 1500 Type 5230 up and running by splashing out on some beautiful Beovox 1702s and some classic vinyl. Problem is, the 33 rpm isn't working. Everything else seems fine.

I've taken the wooden cover off and can see that the mechanism is moving up and down, but the turntable stops revolving when 33 is selected, although there is still power to the stylus. Fiddling with the speed control does slow it down to an approximation of the right speed. I daren't strip it any further without advice for fear of damaging something.

Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

On further inspection, when selected to 33, the drive wheel moves to the correct part of the conical spindle, but the motor stops... I also think the fine adjustment wheel is seized. I think I need better access to the mechanism, but I'm not sure how to get in.

On further, further inspection, the motor doesn't stop! The drive wheel isn't applying enough pressure to the spindle - a little nudge with a pencil gets things going. So...back to my original question - how do I dismantle the turntable so I can clean and/or adjust the selector mechanism?  

New drive rubber belt required as this dictates the force from the secondary drive to the motor spindle,

Here my BG 1000 thread it may be of help, I suggest to take the whole drive mechanism apart, clean and lubricate all parts, getting a new belt may be a problem, I never found one that fits, but maybe Martin (Dillen on the forum) I think he was working on getting some made.

For silver and gold members there are repair manuals on site, get one before you start.

After nearly 50 years the belt stretches , I put mine in some boiling water which contracted it just enough to get some extra grip on the secodary drive wheel , cleaned and lubed mechanisms,, bit heath Robinson but it worked, fiddley unit to work on but worthy of keeping running
