Hello,
Just got a second hand BC2300. Only the CD player was supposed to be faulty.
The problem is, almost immediatly, the Beosound goes to stand-by and needs some seconds before being able to try something else.
I suppose the power supply or some security circuits are the cause of everything, but I'd like to hear your experience!
Radio and display are, apparently, working ; even the CD cover is moving (by steps) and the lens is moving up and down.
Once plugged, doors open and stay opened, and lights remains on.
I'm not an electronician, and I don't have specialised tools, but if the repair isn't too complicated, I may be able to do it!
Please guide me if photos are needed...
Thanks a lot.
Hi,
it could be the Lithium buffer battery inside the cpu board... the silver steel box.
If the voltage is below 3V, then there can be crazy malfunctions. And after 20 years it's a good candidate for such a defect...
Good luck!
Martin
Hi !
Thank you for the tip Martin.
I'll investigate this.
I'm currently dismantling it...
No obvious overheated zones, no burning odour...
Battery is soldered and give 2.7V
During my tests, I discovered that removing these 3 screws allows the BC2300 to operate normally !?! (except for the CD that I knew defective)
There should be a ground problem somewhere...
Another strange discovery: the CD disc detector is not connected!?!
And the plug on the pcb is not present where I suppose it shoud be located...
The detector is 99% missing, only very old systems have it.
It is a open connector, unused.
There should be an own ground wire on the right side. Check the transformer and the board around... there could be a crack in the board or solder.
2,7V ? It's dying, 98% already dead. Replace it
... and DO NOT USE a cheap chinese battery. It wont last 20 years and it will leak acid on your board.
Thank you for the disc detector information, I was worried.
All ground wires seem to be (correctly) connected.
I improved the insulation of the box containing the battery, and now the "quick stand-by" problem is permanent
A crack may be the problem, but it's not that easy to find...
I will replace the battery and see if it is the cause of all this mess!
Didn't find a battery to be soldered, so bought a standard battery and soldered a support.
And... still have the same problem (Grrrrr)... until I've mounted every single plastic parts, screws and the glasses !?!
It's OK now, even if I don't understand why...
Now, the CD! (CMD4). After pressing the "CD" buttons, the CD move half a tour and stop.
CD<> is displayed.
The laser is moving and searching to focus.
I saw in several threads that the main cause is a (several ?) caps ?
Which one(s) should be changes?
to get the laser focus running properly again the capacitor c100 on Board 8 ( the long, upper board on the right side when viewed from the front ) should be replaced. It's a 47µF / 16V electrolytic.

Thank you Ralph-Marcus !
Now I have homework
2 new things :
1) There is a slight shift in the FM frequencies...
e.g. 105.1 MHz is now 105.8 MHz
--> do I need an oscilloscope to set this correctly?
2) the remote is no more completely working : only the stand-by button works
--> is there a way to retrieve its functions?
EDIT: Solution is here http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/15450/134368.aspx#134368
A chance I have a Beo4... (I got the BC2300 with a Beolink 1000)
to set the Beocenter 2300 to Audio Option 1 is even easier with the BeolInk 1000:
Set the Beocenter to Standby, then press <SOUND> <1> <STORE>.
The red LED in the display should switch off for a moment and then on again. This way the Beocenter acknowledges the setting of the Audio Option.
Hi
Because the electronic shop is far from my home, I asked a friend.
They gave him a 35V, not 16V...
He went back to this shop and this time he got a 25V...
So I personaly went to another shop, and they proposed me only a 35V... (It's supposed to work...)
--> changed with the 25V.
Now the CD player works again, but only when HE wants... i.e. not every time
