Hello :-)

I luckily just acquired a Beovision 7 55 MkII.  I think it just might be the nicest television ever made!  I always coveted one since I saw it on launch.  It replaces a Beovision 7-40 in my living room, which is masterlinked to a Beosound 9000 and another Beovision 7, this time a 32 in my bedroom.  I may swap out the bedroom unit for the 7-40 but haven't decided yet.  Oddly, the installation physically went just fine, with my wife and I easily managing to install the until on the wall using stbs superb close wall bracket - although you do need to remove the rear tv panels if you haven't got the cables in the right place.

Although I originally masterlinked everything up myself years ago, then new setup doesn't work.  The master TV works fine, but the upstairs TV doesn't show the sources attached downstairs.  I am not sure what I did wrong, you can see (for example) the Sky Dogital picture when you go into tuning (although fuzzier than it used to be) but you can't get to it with a single button press on DTV, or as downstairs 'TV'

Any suggestions?

Thank you from Ostrava in the Czech Republic.

PS : Moving further on, in the future I am thinking of networking my house.  I am older school, not having networked before and having masterlink in the house.  Would there be a benefit in doing this, I hear some of the newer equipment works better over network than masterlink...

What sources are you trying to view?

I think I recall that digital sources doesn't work over masterlink..

Hi :-)

I am trying to view the same sources as before, namely the Sky Digital (the old one with SCART connectors) and a TVIX box (using the SCART connector)  Both units worked just fine when the 7-40 was the master and now the 7-55 is the master the Sky signal can still be seen (and heard and even controlled) when in the tuning section, but I can't get to it through the remote button TV, or DTV.  The CD player works fine, so I know the cabling is OK.  It is probably a setting issue.

I understand that I cannot distribute HD signal from HDMI units through the house.  At least that is what I thought.

All the best,

Paul.

What you are watching (the picture and mono sound) on the remote tv is an added signal to the arial running throuh the 55'er.

You will probably have to finetune the frequency (for sending) in the modulator menu of the 55'er.

Have a look at page 62 in the User Guide:

"I understand that I cannot distribute HD signal from HDMI units through the house"

..Actually you can!

Simply use the Cinema function of you BV7-55,- aka Format 0

This will send  the complete image & functionality to a secondary BV7. If your 7-55 is equipped with a dual HDMI output like mine, you will get the HD audio as well, Pretty sweet Smile

Works even better with a BL1000, SHIFT+STORE (Faster).

Like magic, the drapes closes on the BV7-55 in one room,- just to reappear on the BV7-40 in another room.

Super, what a logical idea :-)  I will try that when I am tweaking the system.

With regards to the problem, the advice was sound.  It was a combination of things.  Firstly, the tuner default, 599 I think, had some interference.  I tried another frequency and that did the trick (signal wise).  The TV was set up so that the TV button was for Skybox.  However, with the slave TV being an older analogue model, when I pressed TV, rather than look for TV downstairs, it was looking for the analogue tuner.  So I swapped to DTV and voila, problem solved.  Thank you Matt from Lifestyle TV for your help on this.

However, a problem remains.  When I turn on DTV, the Sky box turns on, I see a picture and then after a couple of seconds the sound cuts straight out.  It does this every time.  Notsure what causes this.  Any ideas?

By the way, what do you mean by 'Dual HDMI' output?  Is that an optional extra?  I think I have 4 HDMI sockets.  Two are occupied (one by BluRay, the other by the Digital TV tuner)

Thanks,

P.

The second (the free) HDMI output (for making a cinema setup) is meant.

All it does is to duplicatate what is on the (main) tv on another tv.

I wouldn't call that 'B&O-distribution' - and it has nothing to do with masterlink for audio and commands and distributed video through the aerial.

Might be fun to try out, however ;-)

Hi Paul

If you do have the MKII of the BV7-55 (aka the 3D version), you have a gem, properly the the best TV B&O ever made!

The image, supported by the black levels of the microdimming is IHMO simply outstanding!

Right next to you four HDMI sockets of witch two are occupied (indecently,-  if you can accept SD quality on your DVBT you can pull the cable, for some reason its routed internally, go figure Wink), you should have two more HDMI sockets, one already occupied (the BV7 screen) the second is the HDMI Cinema out socket.

The Cinema HDMI carries the full HD picture PLUS the HD audio!

I this case a simple HDMI cable (30feet) is connecting my BV7-55 to a secondary BV7-40, note the source!

Everything the BV7-55 has to offer BR7.1, DVBT2  etc. is available right there on the "linked" TV,- the menus you see, are those from the 7-55!

There is more to this TV,- DO get me started Smile

Anyone has any suggestions to Paul's second question?

I am moving to another apartment soon and would like to know whether I should keep the master link or convert it to network cable completely (Cat 6 or &?)

Thank you for your answers :-)  Sorry for the late reply, I was just enjoying the last skiing of the season...

I am back now.  I understand what you are saying now, one of the connections for HDMI can output as well, designed for use with a projector, it allows the duplication of what you would see on the screen.  I may use that.  It is not all up and running, but I need to add more sources over time.  I realise if you have a HD source and you want to distribute it, you can, but in SD format, by setting it up with the SCART output (it has to have one) and therefore you can view HDMI on the master TV and SD on the link TVs.  I may find this an acceptable solution.

If you ever want to tell me more that I am missing out on my 7-55 MkII (yes it is the 3D!) then please feel free!

Keep well,

Paul

If carrying out a new installation, I would be inclined to run at least 2 x S/FTP Cat 7 cables to each location from a central point. They can be patched together to create a masterlink network, but can equally be redeployed in the future to allow for replacement of masterlink products with their netlink equivalents without needing to run in new cables again at that point.

Kind Regards,

Martin.
