Hi Seanie,
I'm a bit surprised by this. Are you sure it was from the aluminium panel and not perhaps one of the shielded ports?
The BLGW is a class 2 (double insulated) device so has no earth connection, and is therefore unlikely to provide an earth path for any static charge that may have built up on your body, and the panel should be very much isolated from any of the internals so is equally not likely to be the source of any electrical charge. I suppose if you were to carry it around, whilst for example, walking on synthetic carpet with insulating shoes, then touch it again having either removed said shoes, or whilst touching something that was earthed it is conceivable you might encounter a static shock.
It is possible to get a small tingle from the metal parts of any ports on class 2 devices incorporating a switch mode power supply - this is an issue I've encountered with various laptops, usually from the USB ports, and usually say on the inside of my arms where the skin is thinner - especially when using power supplies without an earth, for example which travelling abroad. The currents involved though are tiny, so as long as the PSU is properly designed, it is nothing to worry about and is unlikely to cause anything more serious than a mild tingling sensation / discomfort.
Interesting that you seem to encounter this issue frequently with B&O products though.
Kind Regards,
Martin.
