This type of spamming rather than hacking we have had a lot of recently. I have now completely blocked all IP addresses from the ISP where this user was spamming from which was in China

Michael:And a limit on how many threads one user can open in a period of time.
Sparkle Rolls and Rolls and Rolls.....
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Michael:It's to easy for bots to sign up and spam. A "are you a robot-button" is necessary in the membership signup to avoid these. And a limit on how many threads one user can open in a period of time.
There has always been "Flood" protection in place on the forum so you cannot post the same posting over and over again.
About 4 weeks ago I also implemented a system where you could not post a subsequent post within 60 seconds of the previous posting. I may raise this to three minutes.
I may also implement a robot button, but in the most recent months all the spam has been setup by a person (not a bot) signing up normally to gmail and once they have activated the Beoworld account they don't use the gmail account again. I may implement manual registration approval for anyone using Hotmail or gmail in the future.
95% of the spam we have recently seen has come from users who's ISP is:-
Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company 14/F Ramon Cojuangco Building Makati Avenue, Makati City 1200, Philippines
So, I have blocked via our firewall ALL IP addresses I have so far found assigned to this company, there are a lot and I am sure I have missed some, but we will be on the alert for them.

yes thats amazing detailed information Keith...
I'm also getting some posts going to moderation for unknown reasons to me (my recent thread about replacing BeoLink wireless with an Essence and than follow-up went to moderation and I can't figure out why).
Having said this, great work Keith. I can wait from my moderated posts to show up if it helps keep the garbage off this site. This is a great site and has been very useful to me over the years (some years more than others).

Did someone hack and remove Ferdinand's original post?
Graham
Nope - it says 'Edited by Keith Saunders'. Nobody can hack Keith Saunders.. I reckon the FBI would find it easier to unlock an iPhone.
