I've just bought a second hand Beogram 1001 off eBay for a decent price with one proviso.

The turntable plays 45rpm fine but when switched to 33 rpm the records play speeded up.  I'm not sure if the turntable is actually spinning faster than 45rpm or just too fast for 33rpm.  Has anyone come across this sort of thing before and if so is it an electronic or mechanical fault?

Probably  the mechanical speed change mechanism that is stuck in dirt, old grease and oil, will need to be taken apart, cleaned and lubricated, at the same time check for worn or broken parts.A good time to clean all over and lubricate where needed

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Thanks for your reply.  I think I'll open it up and give it all a good clean.
