How do I get the TiVo out of the menu and back to TV using a Beo 4?

Hello,

Sorry if this is a daft question but I've had a good look through and I can't see an answer.

I've just replaced my old Beovision 3 with a Beovision 7 and it came with a Beo 4 - which I much prefer to the Beo 5 that I've been using. Anyway, the Beo 4 does everything except get the screen back to a program.

If I've watched a recording and then stop it, I press the left pointer on the remote several times and this goes back through to the beginning of the home menu, but that's it. The only way I can get rid of the menu and watch a current program is to go through the TV guide and click on something. It's getting a bit irritating because it's so drawn out. I should just be able to switch straight to TV, shouldn't I?

If anyone has any idea about how to do this, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you,

David

Depending upon whether you have an external STB or an internal digital tuner you should simply be able to hit the TV DTV or SAT button on the Beo4 to bring up the last TV channel you were tuned to.

Hi Graham,

Thanks for answering. No, that's what I thought. If I press the dtv button when any of the menus are up, nothing happens.

Maybe someone else (TiVo owner) can help.

Is it a function of the TiVo box itself that's causing the issue  if that is the only source of your incoming signal?

Yes, it's the sole source of tv. I would guess something isn't working on the Beo 4 because if I use the TiVo remote I just click the tv button and the menu disappears and the program comes back - of course I only want the one Beo 4 remote.

I have an older TiVO and use a Beo4 with a BV11. If I'm in any of the TiVO menus, to get back to watching LiveTV, I press the RED button on the Beo4, which brings up the TVGuide, and press the RED button again, and the TV Guide disappears, and the program is the only thing left.

Alas no, I've just tried it. A green light on the front of the TiVo flashes when I press the red button, but that's it unfortunately. It's a new box if that makes a difference, it arrived last week.

Thank you though.

I take it you want to quit the Tivo menu system and go back to watching the current Tivo channel?

From memory, anywhere in Tivo, Menu 8, should take you back to the current channel. You can also use Menu 8 when you are finished watching a recording : at any point in the playback, press Menu 8, you will be asked if you want to delete the recording or save it and you are then returned to the current channel without having to go through the whole left pointer/back combination.

I'm using the Tivo PUC on a V1 but I assume the Tivo PUC implementation should be the same on your BV7.

I recall that the TiVO PUC might actually have been updated at some point. I say this because there was a time when I proactively updated the TiVO PUC, and many of my menu options didn't match any longer, likely due to the fact that my TiVO is VERY OLD! With the assistance of my dealer I manually installed the old version of the PUC.

Aha, problem solved, you're a genius. It doesn't work on "menu 8", that just brings the brightness menu up but "go 8"  does it.

Thank you so much, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the advice.
