Hi all,
Can someone confirm the number of pins on the Beogram 5500 turntable DIN plug?
I have just got the Beomaster 5500 Receiver and when PHONO is selected Ii displays
'NO CONTACT'.
I have noticed that the DIN only has 5 pins and the 2 Datalink pins seem to be missing or broken
off

you need all 7 pins for the data communication. The two missing pins may have just been unscrewed and removed. If you have an extra similar cable (removable pins) you can swap out some pins.
I'm sure someone will be able to help you out with the two pins.

Strictly speaking, you need only 1 of those DATA pins. For PHONO it has to be in place no. 6. If you have another Din to get it from: CD needs pin no.7, so you could use his pin 6.
When you can see metal holes there (thread), they can be screwed in again, but otherwise you have to change the plug

Did not know that the pins could be unscrewed.
I can assume then that I need to try and find spare pins from somewhere, any info on where I can get them.?

My english is not so good, but as I wanted to say in my earlier post: If you have a CD or TAPE, and if there are two pins (6 & 7), you can unscrew pin no.6 (for they only need no. 7) from there to use it for the beogram and screw it into hole no.6. You don't need both pins.

The Beogram 5500 should have a 7 pin DIN plug fitted, two of the pins (for data) can be removed with a small screwdriver. These pins are no longer available, so to get remote control facility, you will need to replace these with suitable small pieces of metal rod or wire.

As ProGram was trying to say, in non RIAA turntables such as Beogram 5500, you will only need a pin in position 6. Position 7 is used by turntables with RIAA.
If you have a CD5500 then I suggest you remove pin 6 or 7 (doesn't matter which) and place it in position 6 in your turntable DIN plug. As far as I can tell from the service manuals, your turntable should now have datalink and the CD500 will work as normal.

I just had a look into the service manual. There is no bridge between pin 6 and 7, so it's better to remove only pin 6 from the CD or TAPE plug, because only pin 7 serves the data (at CD/ TAPE).

I just checked the CD5500 service manual on this site and pins 6 and 7 are clearly linked!!
Since every source seems to differ and the only universal fact is that you only need one pin to carry the data, I have devised a bomb proof step-by-step procedure:
Now it either works, or your kit needs service.
On the other hand, the "NO CONTACT" message mentioned in the OP seems to indicate communication problems between MCP/Beolink remote and Beomaster, not between Beomaster and peripherals...

OK gents,
Just picked up the CD5500. Removed pin 6 and put it in pin 6 of the Beogram 5500 and now both are controllable via the Master Control Panel!
