Hi all,
Looking for a bit of help with the voice announcement on the 1200. I have got everything else working but I cannot figure out what I could be doing wrong with the voice announcement.
The caller id works fine.
I press the square button, enter the phone number, press the record button and get the countdown - - - - - - whereupon I record the name of the 'caller', then when all the countdown lines - - - - have gone, I record a message, and then end the recording.
When that caller rings me however, I do not get his name aloud, just the normal answer machine, even though I have the phonebook set with the square displayed on the display.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
The only thing I can think of is, that it says in the manual, to make sure to include the full dialling code, i.e 0121 0131 etc. I have only been able to try this with a mobile phone as the incoming call, and am wondering if it only works with Landlines????
The Beotalk 1200 is not easy to setup and some of the instructions can be a little misleading.
Firstly, a few points to note:-
Assuming the above are in order and you are sure you have recorded the announcements correctly, then it is likely that Announcements are in the deactivated mode.
To activate announcements:-

Thank you for taking the time to reply Keith.
I think the only thing I can be doing wrong is the announcements. I will have a go again tomorrow when I have a day off work.

Now working fine. What I was doing wrong was, after I had recorded the 'name', I then continued with a personal message. Now works perfectly.
Keith Saunders:The announcement will ONLY be made if there is a minimum of 3 digits and a maximum of 13
Not quite true I think....
I have added an "Anonymous" announcement if the number is suppressed.
I was thinking about setting it up so that any caller with the number suppressed are diverted to an message saying that only calls with a visible number will be answered. Luckily anonymous calls are now very rare, call centres in Germany are no longer allowed to suppress their number.
I can't remember off hand exactly how I set it up but I think it involved naming a call without number "Anon" and then assigning that caller to an announcement.
