Hello fellow beoworlders!
I am looking for some help regarding my new system, and this seems like the most appropriate section to post it.

I am having mixed luck in getting the Beogram to operate correctly.I am aware that the stylus is past its best, and will need re-tipping in the very near future.Meanwhile, I need to mitigate a mechanical (or possibly electrical) fault with my Beogram.
The Beogram plays the record fine, until i come to lift the arm, no matter whether I press "lift","<<",">>", or "stop" the arm will lift like it is supposed to, and then lower back down onto the record straight away.
If I press "stop", the arm will raise, lower, and then attempt to return to the rest position by scraping the needle across the record's surface, and the aluminium surface of the deck, the arm will then move back and forth, up to the edge of the record, and back to the rest position continually, until the Beogram is unplugged. The arm can then be raised manually by removing the platter, engaging the solenoid, and rotating the flywheel.
At first, one would think that this is a mechanical issue with the Beogram, but further tests have suggested otherwise...
I have tested the Beogram in various configurations, and reported my findings below...
These results have lead me to think that the fault lies within the Beomaster and NOT the Beogram itself?
The problem only occurs when the DATA pins 6 & 7 are present, and connected to the Phono socket.
Multiple searches through the forums, archived forums and google have proven to be unsuccessful.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before, and does anyone have any suggestions?

never heard of that. I tried to confirm the fault by shorting the data Pin to ground (my only idea, because you said the fault stays even without power), but everything is fine. My suggestion is to try with a different beogram. Do you have TAPE or CD and are they acting normal?

although, I tried this short with a Beogram 2000 (the other one is a 9500). And this causes perennial up and down of the pickup, when pressing cue or Play-Stop. So it seems that the socket in your beomaster hat a kind of short.

I plugged the Beogram in yesterday, after leaving it for a few days, i did everything exactly the same as before, and it worked perfectly! With no explanation as to why there was any previous fault.
I also have a Beocord 5000, but I have not been able to test it yet as it needs repairs to the power supply..
I know the Beogram works fine for now, but I have only tested it out with an old scratched record, and I am terrified of playing my best records in case it scratches them!
