Hey guys!
I was just wondering what kind of subwoofer would be the best one to use to my BeoLab 8000 speakers? I wanted to get a Beolab 2, but I find it a bit too expensive.. Which other alternative would be the best? And can you use any other subwoofer you want, to the BeoLab 8000's without it having to be from B&O?
Thanks
Tobias
Depends for what you listen too... I've added the BeoLab 11 to my 8000's... only for music... Can't complain. The neighbors can :-)

I just find it very expensive. Here in Denmark it's 1200 $ Is there a cheaper alternative but with the same effect as the BeoLab 11?

Used Beolab 2 every time. Still the best they've made even today. Also, it will make a big difference depending on the master you connect it to eg; you'll hear a totally different sound from the same set of speakers connecting everything to an older Beovision versus one of the current models with a Beosystem 4 chassis.
They are a great price used.

If you know anyone who has a BL2, borrow it.

Beolab 2 is the best. low volume for music, average volume for A / V 5.1, high-volume to break glass. Beolab 11 is limp.
1000/1100 euro is a good price for BeoLab 2. Excellent value for your money.

You won't break the glass with a BL2.. But you WILL tear down your walls.. and the rest of the building (tip: movie Master & Commander)
I echo the other posters, one can't go wrong with a BL2. There should be plenty of second hand ones around for sale at a relatively decent price. The thing is built like a tank and should last a lifetime.
I just want to mention one advantage of the BL2 or BL11 over a different brand sub. Unless you're using an AVR or something to send the bass to the sub and the other frequencies to the BL8000s, most other subs don't have high pass filters to filter out the bass from the BL8000s. This can make integration tricky, especially as the BL8000 is a bass reflex design so the phase of the bass around cutoff can get, well, interesting and hard to mesh with a sub. On the BL2 you actually get three different crossover frequencies to play with which gives you a better chance of finding one that works well with the room and where you place the sub.
Not only does not having a high pass filter not filter out bass from the BL8000s, which means you don't get the advantages of cleaner mids and less chance of damage to the drivers at high volume, it makes getting the sub to work well with the BL8000s much harder.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Hi.
So glad I came across this thread, I have been mulling over getting either a BL2 or 11 to add to my BL8000's and now I am confident about getting the 2. I have noticed they are getting affordable lately and seem to be very reliable.
Thnaks for the advice.
