First time I've seem a tv integrated in the speakers wall!

By the way - reading the sentence:

'it's easy to imagine yourself in an eccentric audiophile's home,'

I never thought of myself as 'eccentric' and I don't recon myself an 'audiophile' either.

I am just a guy, who wants some good looking, well working stuff in my home!

Is this because the term audiophile has been highjacked and given a very negative connotation, especially by those who think that B&O is anything but hi-fi?  Using wikipedia's definition, which is fair, I think:

An audiophile is a person enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction. Audiophile values may be applied at all stages of music reproduction: the initial audio recording, the production process, and the playback, which is usually in a home setting.

I would think anyone who spends any amount of time on this site cares about the sound! Smile  I've always considered myself an audiophile, at least to the extent that my budget allows.  I am not a purist though, I can be just as happy listening to my stereo BeoLab 17 as I can listinging to 10.2 with my BeoLab 14 with True Image.  Some may think that doesn't make me an audiophile, but I don't use that definition. There are compromises with any piece of audio equipment and each person will have a different opinion about it. With the amount of effort expended at B&O to get the sound just right I very much think that Geoff Martin is an audiophile using the above definition, and I believe everyone else at Bang & Olufsen is an audiophile also!

I don't mean to start a war of words, but I am wondering if it is just because how the term is often used, or the typical intent of the word.

I am wondering what the term "eccentric audiophile" means!  I have a feeling the writer defines this as someone who can afford and would buy the BeoLab 90!

I work with some people who will only buy an $8 bluetooth speaker from the dollar store, and that is fine for their audio needs.  I guess to them I would be an eccentric audiophile!

@Mark-N

Sure that is a matter of how the term 'audiophile' is used.

According to the Wikipedia definition I sure am an audiophile - I care for sound values at all stages!

As you wrote, the term however has been hijacket - in the common way it is being used today, I am definitely not an audiophile.

I just noticed, that someone, who aren't used to B&O products, would associate living with these products with being 'eccentric'.

To me living with the B&O stuff is pretty normal :-)

For someone like me who loves the great outdoors but currently lives in the UK were it's cold, cloudy and dull. I dream of warm climates. What I don't understand is why if you lived in Aus would you buy all of these indoor expensive things when you are surrounded by beaches, surf, boating and everything outdoors with a beautiful climate :) :) :)  I just don't understand why :)

Maybe something to do with when you get down this side of the planet, no one warns you just how damn damp the winter is, which makes you feel cold, therefore no other choice but to huddle in doors in front of B&O.

Then again I have been known to go sod it, and pop over to Rarotonga for a few weeks to defrost, doing the beach whilst carrying a trusty beolit 12 Smile

Whilst you were typing yesterday the UK outside temperature was 26 degrees C and the sun was blazing down with no wind.

Some of us were at the beach (10 minutes walk away).

I lived In the uk most of my life  and very keen on sports and the outdoor life and if the sun shone you grabbed it the same on holiday on the beach every day.

I have now retired to the canary isles and don't have to rush to the beach if the sun shines, because I know I can go tomorrow

also can laze in the sun on my terrace  with a nice glass of charrdonay listening  to my choice of music

on my expensive bang and olufsen equipment so have the best of both worlds

Looked like a good night and trust you had a good time. It appears not all their customers are invited.

Modern marketing tactics Sad

I did not recognise a single person from previous events

It was clearly an "event" to generate publicity photos and articles in society pages rather than thanking existing clients

Sal, that was the grey Kvadrat cover for the a9 (and then later in the day the A1)

Elephant, interestingly enough without customers, there is no business. lol.  The a9 chocolate was a nice touch.

And i have an order in which is even funnier and i shopped with them just 2 weeks ago. Although the order ts the dusty blue a9 cover.  Back when i was an Account Manager and we had client events we invited everyone and it didnt matter if they spent $200 or $50,000 with us - we wanted our customers to experience our service.

I will buy another beovision when it comes out and it will be from another store.

All good though, Im too busy enjoying my a1 in stereo tonight listening to the Deezer featured playlist.  That's one thing i am thankful for, i really am in to deezer.

Michael - don't be too harsh on the store staff - they don't control the invites - the new owners' marketing department is the one that's calling the shots
