Hi,
I do have a BV7 40 (typ 9456, TV only). The installed/shipped firmware showed me the possibility to use AST as I bought this one some days ago.
After SW upgrade during PUC installation, the menu item aof AST isn´t available any longer :(
Any idea, why AST disappeared ?
Do I have a MK III oder MK IV model ? The internet isn´t shure about this question...
THX/Kind RegardsTom
Hi Tom,
your BV7-40 9456 should be a MK 4.

Danke !
VG Tom
Type 9456 is simply known as the "Beovision 7-40 TV" rather than specifying a MK number as such and signifies the model without built in DVD or Blu-ray. It was launched around the same time as the BV7-40 mk4, but the initial units contained the 50/60Hz panels from the mk3 rather than the new100/120Hz panels used in the mk4 (later models of the BV7-40 TV did use the newer 'mk4' panels though). I suspect this was a way for B&O to use up leftover stock of the mk3 panels (in a what was a significantly cheaper television) during the transition between mk3 and mk4 spec, and they then switched to using the new panel once these stocks had been exhausted.
Circuit board wise, there is little difference between the mk3 and mk4 television - the LCD panel was upgraded, the DVD was swapped for blu-ray, and the DVB-HD tuners were often fitted to mk4 sets, but these could also be retrofitted to mk3 models.
Regarding the 'disappearing' AST menu option. I suspect your previous software was a version earlier than build 533 - one of the fixes introduced in build 533 was to resolve the issue "AST is shown in Sound Menu despite not possible with present hardware" and this is why the option is no longer displayed in the newer software (your TV doesn't support AST, and the menu being visible in the earlier software was in error)
If you wish to use AST it is possible, but the DSM module in the television would first need to be replaced in order to support this.
Martin.
Hi Martin,
thanks a lot for your very helpfull answer !
