Hi, this 3000-2 had an intermittent channel. I found that if I pressed the PC board in the center of unit with many, neatly arranged caps on it , I'd get the channel back. However, while investigating this, a bare piece of wire on the workbench touched the vertical circuit board near the back of the unit, and grounded to a metal shelf. Where that wire touched the vertical circuit board, I got a spark that left black spot on the trace, which I indicated in the picture with the black arrow. That made it no longer possible to get that intermittent channel to work. The unit was still playing the other channel, and I was moving knobs around, when a flash, pop, and smoke occurred, coming from the silver box circled in the picture inset. Do I even try to figure out which components I fried? Is it worth trying to track down the bad components and fix the unit? THanks
