Hello again,

I'm reassembling my Beogram after getting my boards and motor back from Rudy Schlaf in Florida who has done some sterling work.  Everything now works as it should.

However, I'm thinking of replacing 0C1 as it's probably fairly ancient, though it looks OK.  It's a biggish 4000uF cap with no voltage marking and connects the 30v rail to ground.  It reads 4929uF with an ESR of 0.08 ohm, measured on a Peak ESR meter.

My question is: is this sufficiently within spec to leave alone, or should I replace with

  • Panasonic HA series 63v 4700uF (measured at 5170uF, ESR 0.02 ohm), or
  • Rubycon 50v 4700uF (measured at 4242uF, ESR 0.00 ohm).

Of these the Panasonic is the better fit physically.

It's probably not remotely critical, but as a newbie to all this, I thought I'd run it past you in case I blow something up.

Many thanks,

That's right.
Given the choice between those two, I'd grab the one that mounts best.
