Hi beorumples,
To summarise the links kindly provided by Millemissen - "Yes, you can use a remote (eg. Beo4, Beolink 1000, etc) with the Essence via an older IR eye".
I have the cables in stock to link the eye to the Essence, including a wiring chart: http://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/143-ir-infared-remote-cable-for-beosound-essence-wiring-chart-included.html
Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Steve,
Would I be correct in assuming that this is with the limitation of the buttons on the eye having no effect? I haven't checked, or read the entirety of the threads provided by MM, but I am assuming that the change of naming for the connections (from SDA / SCL to RX / TX) implies B&O have switched from using i2c to a UART for the buttons / LED rather than simply a change to what is printed on the buttons?
Cheers,
Martin.
Hi Martin,
Good question! I tested this to ensure remote control reception, but I didn't try the buttons on the infra red eye. I will check next time I have an Essence in the workshop and let you know.
