Anybody else still using their A9 key ring?
we use ours as the fob to my wife's car key and it's great as a piece of tactile stuff and when the children forget to turn the TV off when it's time to go out. B&O don't do anything like this or the Beotime any more. Surely there should be a product like them in the range..

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
I think that a problem with the A9 was that car manufacturers started using key fobs of their own for locking and unlocking the car. That became quite a clunky mess with the A9 in addition. This is no longer an issue with my Porsche that has all of the controls built into the key itself.
It would be nice to have a successor to the A9 that is programable to suit the user's needs.
BTW, I've now gone keyless other than the key for my Porsche. I use keypads for my garage and building, installed a combination lock for my mailbox, keep my office keys in my briefcase, and installed a smart lock with geofencing for my loft. As a backup, I keep physical keys secured in combination lockboxes in my garage and office and have also have a keypad for entrance to my loft in case I lose my smartphone.
Not sure how keyless would work with our family. Interesting spin on the subject. I remember when I got used to plipping the car doors with the key .
Mine fell to pieces. It the back came unglued sadly and then it stopped working, so a rather short life way back in 2000 for mine.

Really?
i have great sympathy for anything you come into contact with!
I've had the same problem. I had to keep re-gluing mine back together repeatedly over the years.
Also, I found that I had to keep explaining what the A9 was to security when going through metal detectors. The guards would look at me in disbelief when I would explain that it a remote to control my stereo, tv, and lights. With modern tech advances, this might not seem as odd now.
Perhaps that one reason to discontinue the A9 ?
there must be a way of recreating a new version of the idea that is configurable and a bit more robust.

If they do it'll probably be an app.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

An app for your car key?
i always saw it as a gift for loyal customers but an app doesn't make a nice physical gift like a lot of merchandise.
I would not say no to a free license/purchase (for an app) if it was something of use.
Maybe an app for a Smartwatch - always at hand ;-))

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Actually, we already have this! Our very own BeoWorlder Philippe created LinkRemote for the Apple Watch. It works with the MLGW/BLGW to give you control from your Apple Watch. Since an smartphone or Apple Watch app would need to connect via wifi, the MLGW/BLGW would be needed for this type of interface.
Yes I know - I was just advocating that a non-physical 'piece' of merchandise could be as good a a physical.

BeoNut since '75
It probably committed suicide.
Jeff:It probably committed suicide. Jeff Beovirus victim, it's gotten to be too much to list!
Actually, I don't think that I would buy a new version of the A9. There are much better solutions available now. I have a Lutron RadioRa2 keypad next to the door with a button to press to send everything including the lights to standby when walking out the door. This can also be achieved with an Essence remote mounted next to the door - which has a remarkably strong IR range. Going a step further, I now have an Amazon Echo that can react to voice commands to send my B&O into standby or to trigger any other action that I want. This is great when carrying groceries with no hands free. I can simply speak my commands hands-free to turn on the lights via BLGW.

Excellent!
i do love to hear from you early adopters. I thought the A9 lost 30%of its function with no Lutron but making it into an automated system does take it into today. I'm sure that's what products like nest are aiming for.
Mine stopped working many years ago. Dropped it to many times on the ground or floor. But I still have it as a key ring. Like the look and wheight of it.
