I have been asked to restore an old Beolt '39 radio and have identified that the CCH2 valve is shot!

Does anyone have information where i can get another one from (or an alternative UCH4   UCH21   ECH3 )

Any assistance would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks for the link. I'll update on progress when there is some.

CCH2 is very rare to find and the used ones that pop up occasionally are usually bad.
I used an ECH3 instead when I did a Beolit 39 a couple of years ago and it worked wonderfully.
(A resto-thread can be found in the archived sections though the photos seem to have disappeared).

The function of the ECH3 is very close to that of the CCH2.
Most functions and specs are the same, even the pinout is an exact match, only
the heater voltage is different.
The heater current, fortunately, is the same which makes life much easier when dealing
with a set with a series heater chain.
The CCH2 heater takes 29 Volts, the ECH3 only 6,3 Volts so the dropper will have to
be changed to suit this new situation.
Ohms law in action; We have to drop (29-6,3) = 22,7 Volts.
With a heater current of 200mA, the resistor calculates to (22,7/0,2) = 113 Ohms
The power handling of the resistor should be no less than (22,7x0,2) = 4,5 Watts

ECH3 is far more plentyful than the CCH2, even NOS ones can be found many places.

Ah yes the good old ECH3! I must have one of those in a box somewhere...

Thanks for the tip Martin!
