I considered plugging something into the line in, however then the essence remote can only control volume.
Also am not sure what their strategy is for US.
I doubt you gain much from spotify to sonos/deezer via line in.
What are your speaker?
The question is, whether you will gain anything (read: better soundquality in the real world) by changing.
Personally I would doubt it - others might say, that you will.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Exactly what I am wondering. I may have to buy a Sonos Connect and try it.
I also wonder if I create an account via the Sonos, which is the only way to get Deezer Elite in the US, if I could then use the same login credentials on my V1 and Essence and get Deezer Elite directly through them.
Thanks. I have looked previously at the site for the catalogue and just looked again. I do not see any way to look at the catalogue. Basically I get a screen that says coming soon and a place to enter an email address to be notified when Deezer is available in the US. Then a couple links to activate a Sonos code and a couple other things, but nothing that I see will let me view the catalogue.
I guess the 'Deezer Elite catalogue' is exactly the same as the '320-Deezer catalogue', or?
In order to see the Deezer catalogue you could use a service like Tunnelbear to temporary route your ip-adress to a country, that offers Deezer.
Deezer has over 35 million songs, 28 million of which are available in HD. These files are encoded in FLAC, an uncompressed audio format, and then streamed to you at 1,411kbps.

I may buy a Sonos Connect and see if I can hear an improvement through my current 9s and/or my 20s that are on the way.

Well, yes Raslaw you are right, indeed thats the best test you can do. I did some equal thing, but without spending the money to a Sonos connect.
I’m fortunate to have Charlie Haden/Kenny Barron’s album - Night and The City in my own cd collection. I ripped this album to my music server in the same lossless quality Deezer Elite is providing and listened with the Moment to both versions, the now lossless ripped album and the compressed album who is on the Deezer Premium list.
There is a significant difference, immediately audible noticeable from the first notes Kenny Barron plays on his piano. In careful listening, it let me hear the open, dynamic and punchy sound of the original recording on the ripped version where the bass is so low and detailed as desired, and the highest frequencies sounded very natural. I did not feel the same in listening to the version Deezer Premium provides me, although the album sounded very nice, enjoyable, but with a hard edge.
I must remark, that I have listened to both albums at a higher level then normal. In listening at low or normal volume I did not notice much of this added value on lossless streaming.
Without burning money on a Sonos Connect, that was de best comparison test I could try in comparing the two streaming services Deezer provides us. Or almost… I assume that Deezer Elite provides me with the same ripped quality, it should…
Is it now worth the money to spend on Deezer Elite for me ? Absolutely, for an extra $5 a month or even cheaper with an annual subscription. I would not hesitate. Hopefully B&O enables me to do so, in a not so far future.
I would not hesitate to buy the Connect (if I wanted to do this test).
You can always sell it afterwards at a reasonable price.
IMO this kind of testing requires listening over a longer period and to different music.
Be aware that the BM5-AUX-connection via the USB-ADC (I suppose the Behringer device) isn't the best way to get a descent audiosignal into your listening chain!
It would be much better, if you could use the SPDIF (Coax-dig-out) of the Connect and a SPDIF-input on a newer BV (sorry, I don't remember if you have one).
BV7-55,BV10-40, BS5 all connected by Masterlink. Also a V1. I have an Essence connected to the aux in of the BS5 via a Behringer. The Sonos would be connected by to the line in of the Essence.
Looking forward to hearing how you decide and what you think.

I decided to purchase the Sonos Connect. Will be setting up later today.
I connected the Sonos Connect to the Essence with RCA cables and signed up for Deezer. Started by playing music through Deezer and the Sonos app by selecting line in on the Essence. That did not work well as there was static.
The BeoMusic app also lists the Sonos as a separate source, must have connected wirelessly to it? However, the selections for music are limited when choosing it. Playlists etc, but no ability to search for new music. Additional even though I have created playlists in Deezer I can not see them or play them when selecting the Sonos as the source in the Beomusic app.
Third thing I tried, was after signing up for Deezer Elite via the Sonos app, I selected Deezer directly in the Beomusic app and tried logging in. It worked. So now I have Deezer working on the Essence directly. My impression after listening to a few seconds of Deezer was the same as it is now, two hours of listening later....Wow! It seems to my ears that the difference, or should I say improvement is huge.
If the 20s are as big of an improvement over my 9s, as Deezer Elite is over Spotify, it will be a very easy decision to keep the 20s and not avail myself of the 30 day return period.
Perhaps as I do more listening switching between Spotify and Deezer my opinion will change. But I doubt it. Every time I switch to Spotify, I immediately want to go back to Deezer.
However, when converting Spotify playlists to Deezer, some music available on Spotify is not available on Deezer.
A couple of tracks I listened to, at complete opposite ends of the music spectrum, are Toccata and Fugue by Charles Marie Widor. And for bass I listened to Kenny Rogers-Pharoah Monch Dub Plate-The Ecleftic-2 Sides II A Book Wyclef Jean
Another track where I really noticed the difference, going off again in a another completely different direction, is the William Tell Overture Finale from the soundtrack of The Lone Ranger movie that was released a couple years ago.
I also think I solved the line in static problem by changing the channel that the Sonos is using to connect.
And I partially solved the problem of the BeoMusic app also seeing the songs wirelessly but no music being there. I need to additional playlists in a different portion of the Sonos app, however when I tried to play the tracks in thos lists through my V1, it indicated some sort of problem with the format.

Listened to it again on both Spotify and Deezer. Once again, or perhaps I should say still, prefer Deezer.
My girlfriend came over tonight and I asked her to listen to both Deezer and Spotify without telling her which was which to see if she could hear a difference.
I first played a track on Deezer. Shortly after it started she said she thought she knew which it was. I then played the same track on Spotify and then repeated the same same with two other tracks.
After listening she said she preferred the first version of each track and assumed it was the Deezer track. She said that upon hearing the first track, even before having heard the second version, she could immediately tell it was different than what she was accustomed to hearing at my house as it sounded so much better. After hearing Deezer she described the Spotify tracks as sounding as if there was a veil over the sound.
Can you pick the speaker/essence to be played on within the deezer app or do you have to use beomusic?
That I have the Essence and my A6 within Spotify I do like a lot.
Am hoping deezer opens up in the US soonso I can try. Not sure why they launch the way their are launching in the US .... Cricket wireless sonos beosound moment ... All not my cup of tea
