Hi all,

So I grabbed a BeoRemote One today to experiment more with the BLGW. Sorry @beojeff I went and got one, and so far I'm pretty into it. I love how customisable the display is! Still wish it was heavier though!

I reckon the answer to this is 'no' but does anyone know if it's possible to keep the remote in LIGHT or CONTROL mode? It times out like the Beo4 after 15 seconds or so. There're aren't any hidden menus or similar are there?

You can use one of the MySettings button as permanent light button?

Thanks yeah I've got that setup. What I mean is when you press the LIGHT button, other buttons on the remote then send various relevant LIGHT commands. How ever this times-out after a while. I'd like to ideally keep the remote always in LIGHT mode.

@Chris

You are pointing at the single most annoying issue with the newer remotes, I refer to it as the  "I forget what I am doing!" syndrome!

There is one solution, but at first you will properly reject it, as being far out.

The BL1000 does NOT have this issue, and despite being 30 years old it uses exactly the same protocol and carries the same commands as the newer ones. Virtually all commands are available directly, without digging deep into menus, and it knows exactly what its doing!

For my Cinema setup I am actually using the BL1000 exclusively, since it can be operated in the dark

Menus? Good in restaraunts but not on a remote. I have considered changing one of our Beo4s for a RemoteOne but the light button has gone....

You may have noticed that the LAMP button, available in the list under  LIGHT doesn't work properly with the current firmware. It doesn' t look like they are going to fix it.

This has prevented me from buying more Beoremote One.

A bit like going into a restaurant without a being able to read the menu...

...you simply have to remember it from the last time, you were there.

Some can, most of us can't ;-(

P.S. What is the command for 'Join' (or MOTS......) on a BeoLink1000?

How am I to know, which device is activated by e.g. 'V.Aux2'?

@MM

The join command is merely the old CD2 (0x97) command rebadged,- SHIFT CD

Glad to be of assistance Smile

Talk about longevity, - 30 years ago the B&O engineers designed a system capable of operating devices, not even invented yet!

Oh yes - 'SHIFT CD' --- the SHIFT button surely is a mighty one.

(Some of us have known that for decades).

The BeoLink1000 is the remote for the BeoNerds - everyone else need some help from a e.g. BeoRemoteOne.

At least if they have a setup, where several different commands/functions are needed.

Just imagening that my wife would have learn the SHIFT functions by heart ;-(

P.S. Even I would have a problem learning these and looking up these combinations on a piece of paper (or on my iPad!) when I have to use them, can't be THE solution.

Might work well for you, though - be happy ;-)

Anyway 'your solution' doesn't answer the question, that Chris asked!

@Chris

What is the reason, that you want to keep the LIGHT mode constant?

@Millemissen I am using the BeoRemote One to control my Sony TV (and the Hue lights). The way it's working is that I've renamed LIGHT to 'TV' in the BROne and assigned it to the first MyButton. Then via the BLGW I have mapped a lot of the buttons on the BROne when in LIGHT/'TV' mode to do stuff on my Sony TV. The problem is it comes out of LIGHT/'TV' mode after a few seconds. So it's all pretty good except you need to press the first MyButton to activate LIGHT/'TV' mode before pressing another button - hence me wanting it to stay in the LIGHT/'TV' mode.

This would all be not needed if my Essence would pass 'TV' commands through the BLGW but I think that's just a dream that may never happen.

Hope that makes sense!

I've also renamed CONTROL to 'LIGHTS' (confusingly but there are less available CONTROL commands than LIGHT commands and I need more to control the TV than I do the lights) and this is linked to the second MyButton - so the light control is all cool and working well (including linking the coloured remote buttons (red/blue/green/yellow) to the relevant coloured Hue scene, mainly to show off to people, but it's a lovely simple user experience).

I have to say - the ability to rename everything in the BROne is really really cool - especially when trying to make it easy for others to use.

Thanks Chris - that makes perfectly sense.

Now I see 'your problem'.

Hoping for a change in the settings of the Essence ('TV' command passthrough) probably would be more realistic than hoping for changes in the BROne.
