Hi All...

Just got hold of a complete mint condition(cosmetic) Beosystem 7000..

And when I say mint, I mean mint.. The Beogram lid has NO scratches at all, it is very impressive. The rest is also fantastic condition, just needs the typical fixes, C2103 in CD / belts in BC/BG, and a new mute relay in Beomaster.

Got to the BM, and behold!!! There is no RDS module, and there has never been one, it is very clear because of dust trails, also the FM module is the same as the BG6500..

Did B&O fabricate BM7000's without the RDS in the beginning ? The serial number is 086xxxx so it is one of the first..

I guess since there are BL7000's without RDS, they might have been for the first gen BM7000, just never seen one before..

Sure it is not a BM6500 with the outer casing of a BM7000?

"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

You are correct... Just tried to store a channel on position 21, no succes.. And... stupid me, looked at the type number, it says 6500 !!

Just talked to the guy I bought it from, and he remembers his mom buying it and putting the whole system on the shelf. Everything looks legit(it has a dealer mark from the city both he and his mom lives in, and also from where I bought it) and the dust-level/type in all 4 units are the same, so there is no doubt that these 4 units have been together since birth.

BG/CD/Beocord are legit 7000 type numbers, and nothing looks changed in the 7000(6500). Oh well, somebody, most likely B&O have made a mistake placing a 7000 front on a 6500 unit, and the dealer never noticed, or was actually aware(or even changed the front before selling it to an old lady with a Beolink 1000 remote, She would never know the difference.

The BM7000 has a different processorboard. Where with a BM6500 an old SAB8032 processor is used, the BM 7000 has a newer smaller SMD prcoessor . Can't remember by heart wich type that was.

It's also easy to tell them apart without lifting the board up from the chassis - BM7000 processor board has an extra 2 or 3 pin connector for the I2C bus that carries the data from the RDS decoder box. BM6500 obviously doesn't have it. It's located between the two wide connectors, as I recall...
