Hi,
I have just joined beoworld and this is my first post! My current setup is a beosound 3000, running with beolab 6000s and a beolab 11. I am after an upgrade and considering 8000s to replace the 6000s. I will probably move the 6s to another room and connect the 8s in the lounge. I am after opinions on what the best sound would be. Do I run the 8s into the 11 or remove the 11 and run the 8s as standalone?
Hopefully some of you guys will have heard both setups and can provide some advice.
Cheers
Hi.
A lot will depend on the location of the speakers, what furniture is in the room and indeed what size the room is. I would certainly try with and without the BL11 before deciding, only your own ears will tell you what sounds best.
I dont have a BL11 ( or any sub) with my BL8000 but it has been mentioned several times on this site that the BL2 sub is better suited to the BL8000, and the BL11 doesn't add much to the sound. Again, only you can hear for yourself regarding the sound, and as you already have a BL11 it's certainly worth trying.
Graeme.
Thanks Graeme, decisions, decisions!!
I will try the 11 with the 8s. I do love the look of my 11 but unsure whether it's worth changing to a 2 as i only use the setup for music at the moment but might upgrade the tv to an avant 55 so can see the 2 will be worth it then.
I don't think that the 11 would make any difference with the 8000s. However, I added an 11 to a pair of 6000s and find that the 6000s now sound more like the 8000s.
When I first got my 8000's I had them in a large room spaced about 12 feet apart and the bass was not very accurate. It sounded 'strained' somehow, if that's the right expression, and wasn't at all particularly pleasant. I then tried them in a smaller room where they are approx 6 feet apart and they sounded very different. The bass was much more fuller and punchy, and the speaker really seemed to come to life. A very enjoyable listening experience. My point is there are so many variables to getting the best from your speakers - and not necessarily adding a sub although that may still be an option.
Good luck and enjoy your new 8000,s if you get them - you won't be disappointed.

I got my mk 2 8000s yesterday and I am very pleased with them - a big upgrade on the 6s with the bola 11. They are currently connected through the 11 as the wiring for the old 6s was channeled through walls and under flooring by B&O. I will try the 8s without the 11 on the weekend plugged directly into the stereo.
So far really pleased with this upgrade and thanks for the replies!!
