Hi there,

Reassembling a BM 2200 and I am a bit puzzled by the programming flap spring arrangement.

Am I right in thinking that the upward pressure that causes the flap to open when released is provided by the long torsion bar type spring that runs the length of the hinge?

Is there any way of re-tensioning it?

And where is its contact point on the underside of the lid?

A photo would be great.

Thanks, and ever hopeful,

The spring pushes on the "neck" of a plastic hinge piece glued to the underside of the alu lid.
This piece also performs the damped opening function together with the damper arm, which is held up by
a tiny spring running to a tiny hole in the underlying black metal plate at the rear.
Correctly fitted, the spring will have the right tension.
The service manual has a parts breakdown.

Thanks, Martin,

Very informative, as ever.

Parts diagram is unhelpful on this point.

Cheers,
