hello
I am not interested in buying a 4k tv set. I am already satisfied by the quality of a good hd picture.
Depending of course of its price. Is it still interesting to buy a bv 7 55 mk2 actually.
Oled apart, does its picture quality as good as any actual last lg or sony tv ?
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
I'd say....
- impressive picture
- perfect sound
- stunning tv (if you have the space)
BUT....
- the old software platform (masterlink, no smart tv)
- you can't add PUCs by yourself
My opinion is that it would be worth it depending on the cost. Personally I would not pay very much for one these days as I am excited by the newer technology and waiting for the OLED in 2017, providing it is up to date and inline with the competition. If it is I will buy it to replace my BV9 along with a complete new 7.1 speaker system.
Only you know what you want and how much you are prepared to spend but certainly if you are happy with HD then the 7-55 Mark 2 is a set to consider. I would not suggest buying a Mark 1 as it has less backlit zones and is not 3D. I would also advise trying to source a Mark 2 with as low picture/sound/on/off counter values as you can find since it is knocking on a bit now.
Simon.

I think £5,000 is way over priced and was thinking more along the £1,500-£2,000 price range. I bought one second hand directly from a dealer for £4,000 almost 3 years ago. I didn't keep it for long and decided to change it over for some speakers instead and stick with the BV9. Depends where and who you buy from I guess but worth phoning around as people will be wanting to move these on if they still have them. Simon.
I'm keeping an eye on the second hand market prices, especially for a 7-55. They don't come cheaper than €6000, a MKI would be possible around €5000. Even a MK6 7-40 goes for over €3000. This price point is keeping me from buying a 7-55, if I could get one for €3000 I'd buy one. But for the current prices, 55" OLED screens are available.
It's a really good looking set, but it's old indeed, it's huge, thick and heavy wrt. any current set.

You need to phone dealers directly and you'll make a good deal.
