I am moving from my appartment to a house this summer and because there are more rooms, I am now considering adding some new B&O equipment. I am thinking about getting a BeoLab 3500 (second hand) to connect with my BeoSound/BeoMaster 5 for the dining room. I have never actually heard the Lab 3500 playing and I am curious of how you guys think it is holding up today? Any inputs would be much appreciated Yes - thumbs up

I had a Beolab 3500 in my library for a couple of years.

Sound is very pleasant, and surprisingly full. Played much jazz-type of music an really enjoyed it.

Make sure you get a fresh one with foamrings in good shape.

I have later replaced the BL3500 with a Beoplay A6.

The BL3500's specs are comparable to the BL6000 if that helps

Hi Beoberg,

Yes, this is a nice speaker and sounds good in small to medium sized rooms.  As well as a Masterlink input from the Beomaster 5, you can also add a direct connection from an portable device such as an iPod, which helps to make this speaker even more versatile:-

Hello all

I have a question without aiming to take over the thread.

Can a BL3500 be run as an independant speaker perhaps connected to an essence MK2 that has IR.

Does it automatically turn on and off when powerlink feed is detected?

I like the idea to buy a 3500 and Essence MK2 with IR over the Beosound 35

I'm quite sure it needs eg a NL/ML converter and a powerbox to function with an Essence

Hello Seanie_230,

Yes, you can make a direct connection from an Essence to a Beolab 3500, however you would need to control the Essence via the smart phone app or the bluetooth remote, as using the IR remote would switch off the Beolab 3500 (a direct connection relies on opening the MCL or Powerlink port on the 3500, which has to be done via an IR remote command).

If this option is of interest, please drop me a line via the forum or my website and I will be pleased to help you get this set up.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hello fellows,

Thank you very much for your inputs. I am going to pick up a BeoLab 3500 from 2004 on monday. Got it at a steal (£160!) Looking forward to hearing it.

Best regards,

Frederik

Hi Hiort,

I' am also considering to replace my BL3500 mk2 with a A6.

Would like to know your opinion if the A6 sounds (much) better than the 3500.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Hiort, I'am (also) thinking of replacing my BL3500 mk2 with a Beoplay A6. Before doing so, I would like to know if the A6 is a better system than the lab 3500 soundwise.

Thanks in advance, Teletom
