A friend of mine has some issues with his setup.
In the living room he has a BV7-40 (option2) that has an iPod-dock connected. When i press v.mem the tv turns on and he can listen to iPod music. When i press v.mem at any of the beolink link rooms (option6, passive and active) they wont turn on. I first have to press a.mem and then v.mem. But this makes the BS9000 (option0) turn on at a.tape/a.mem. this does work but when someone selects radio in a link room the whole setup (all rooms) mixes radio and v.mem audio!
This should not happen, but before i run a long cable to the BS9000 to a.mem (which works) i want to know if i can use the v.mem troughout the house? All the bedroom tv's are in option6.
Thank you for any advice.
Are you sure, that your link devices are set to option 6 - L.OPT 6? This should let the linkrooms resond to audio- and videocommands...
What happens when you press TV?
Also try AV - V.MEM in linkrooms.
Hope this helps...
Stefan
all the option settings are correct. not all lights give me comformation but they should be okay. but how do i do the av - v.mem command? is this the same as addjng the av commadnd to the remote?
other thing ive noticed is that when i press tv i hear 2 sources.on the same network. so there is another tv reaponding to the signal !s?
are there anh troubleshoot commands to identify errors? bv7, bv6, bv4?
If you get no confirmation from the stdby light, it means, that your device can`t detect ot accept your option setting.
You just gave an example for wrong option setting:
If you press TV in any room, the BV in that room will be activated. If a second TV in another room turns on, this means, that you have two videomasters in your setup.
AV is a list command. If it`s not on your list, add it. Then press LIST until AV is displayed and then press V.MEM. This will open the V.MEM port in audio mode.
I did the option setting right. not all the beolink eyes have working leds for some reason. some are connected to the beovision4's, should they blink?
When i start a tv command in a beolink room i hear 2 tv's. but no tv itself would turn on. I need to check/remember every channel on each tv to find the second master.
I've tried the av command but it still mixes every sound in the room. somethimes i can mix v.mem and radio audio. something is def wrong with my setup.
Thank you for your help.
Beovisions must be programmed with V.OPT settings. You can check option settings of your BV in service menu.
Press MENU - 0 - 0 - GO.
Audiosystems must beprogrammed with A.OPT settings.
Linksystems like Beolab 2000, 3500, BL active, passive, MCL systems with L.OPT settings.
The whole system should be in standby mode when you start option setting.
Only one audiomaster and one videomaster are possible in a Masterlink system.
You find useful information about Masterlink on the beotech site of Beoworld.

It is a mine of information, I have printed out sections and keep them together with all my product manuals

@L1NO: Did You figure out how to get the audio from V.MEM to a linkroom? I have the similar issue where I want to pull the audio from a BV10 which has an Intel NUC connected via HDMI to BL3500 units.
You can`t distribute HDMI sound via ML - try analogue sound.
Ah. Okay, pitty I assumed that the BV10 acted as a audio hub regardless of source and that it pushed the audio out in the ML-network as well. Okay, that kind of helps to know and not waste any more time on this. While the Intel NUC has analog output for headphone on the front; it's not really an option for me to make use of.
@Thanks for the feedback Stefan.
Use a good USB/DAC for that instead - and connect the left/right RCA to an analog input on the BV10.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
You can use the headphone output. just connect it to a scart adapter and plug the scart to V.MEM scart socket on your BV10.
Now you will have HDMI sound on BV10 and analog sound via ML in link rooms.
Be careful with volume control for the headphone output, because it`s not fix line level.

if you press V.Mem in a room with a Link TV, ML thinks to switch on the VMem of the Link TV in that room.
In the link rooms you have to choose LINK V.MEM (choose LINK in the display of the Beo4 and press V.Mem) to start the sound of the V.Mem of the Living BV7 in a LINK room

Okay, that an interesting workaround that I can live with. While I haven't checked in the BV10 menu; but does that mean that one assigns an additional audio input to V.MEM to get this to work? It's not that often that one plays around with the menu option and thought that one only assigns one port per 'option'. But, will check the options possible.
@kimshav
You probably want to use the PC/NUC for video (and sound) etc on the BV10 through the HDMI connection as well as for music (for MasterLink distribution)?
You will have to find out if the PC outputs sound over HDMI and over the headphone connection simultaneously. Otherweise you will have to go into the sound settings on the PC every time you want to use either of them - which might be difficult.

No. You don`t need assign an additional audio input. If your Intel NUC (whatever that is...) is connected (for exampel) to AV1 socket (V.MEM) on your BV10 and assigned to HDMI A socket you can connect your headphone output to AV1 scart socket (via adapter). This audio signal will be distributed via Masterlink when you select V.MEM.
And yes, check first, if your device is able to deliver digital and analog sound simultaneously. Just connect a headphone to the corresponding output, turn on BV10 by pressing V.MEM, activate your NUC. Now you should get sound from BV10 AND headphone.
Well, I quickly tested to plug in a pair of headphones to the NUC [What is NUC?] which then disabled the audio via HDMI; so guess I need to check whether it's possible to have audio out via HDMI and headphones on the time.
It probably won't - that is why I reminded you of testing it, before you do anything else.
Only way is to switch the sound output is in the control panel of the OS - which is kind of a messy thing.
I don't know if there are some 'alternative' drivers for the soundcard of the NUC - try googling!
Perhaps you could consider a 'HDMI deembedder' - if it is worth it for you.
Look here for a description of how these work

Atlona has a version too, but that is rather pricy.
