Hi Beoworld people,
I have a Beocenter 9500 with faulty CD player. It spins, ttys to lock on and then stops.
It is such a great machine and its a shame to say goodbye. Many of the tech I have spoken to say, "Part are not available, sounds like laser. They are prepared to look at it, but will charge for many ours and then it still could be toast".
I have had advice to replace some caps. Can any one who has worked on this model can advise on what componants we should replace. Being the older Philips mech I know they are not available. The laser does light up, maybe not enough, and the motor appears to spin up nicely.
If anyone could assist it would be much appreciated.
Best regards from South Australia.
Hi,
bad capacitors are more likely the cause than the laser. And some solder joints, spec. the groundings (some 1-2 cm wires with a solder dot on it) and reg. IC. And I've heard of the multiple connectors, that they are no longer reliable. No need to say, hat the lens has to be clean...

You need to at least change capacitor C2103 on the servo board, it is a blue philips 33uF 16v type, and you need to exchange it with the same again (I use 47uf 25v though) 95% of the time this is enough to get it working again.
This one will work.. It's from the Danish site, but you get the idea :)

If you need to make totally sure you get it working, then Dillen on this site sells a complete set with nice printet manuel on which caps to change, he delivers great service. Contact him here in a private message and he will send you a set.

And Leslie once did a perfect job of documenting the change here..

It is 99% the same in the 9500 as the 9000.
