Is there any way of manually activating the RF output on a beovision 6 to be always on or does it only activate when required by a link tv?

I have connected the aerial output to a beovision MX in another room but have been unable to find the frequency of the output when tuning. From looking online it seems some beovisions have the option of turning the RF modulator from Auto (which I believe only works in a beolink system) to On but this setting doesn't appear in my BV6 menu. is there a remote command which would work?

well, I've studied the manual further and still none the wiser on how to activate this (if indeed its possible).

I had a short 1.5m length of masterlink cable and a 1m datalink cable already and bought a beolink video converter from Lifestyle AV to test further. I was able to get the freeview signal to transmit to the MX when properly connected as a linked device but as i didn't have a long enough ML cable it would only work with both tv's side by side in the same room. When only connected by the coax cable I couldn't tune the MX4000 to the BV6 frequency as i'd hoped.

I've decided to go for it and have now purchased some more Masterlink cable and a longer datalink cable from Sounds Heavenly and have a masterlink distribution box on its way from ebay USA from another beoworld'er.

It has turned out to be very expensive way of getting my old MX back in service so hopefully it all works out ok when its wired up in the spare room.

You will find all information in the reference manual.

To set MODULATOR to ON select TV SETUP - TUNING -  MODULATOR.

In your setup you can leave the modulator in AUTO mode.

To give further serious replies it will be useful to know, which BV6 and MX4000 you have.

It it`s a BV6-22 please check, whether a Masterlink module is present.

Connect BV6 ML-socket to BL-video ML - BL-video via 7pin Audio Aux Link cable to AAL socket on BV-MX.

Connect LINK RF (BV6) to RF in (MX).

Set/check Link frequency (default is 599). Set BV6 to V.OPT 1or 2 (master) and MX4000 to V.OPT 1 or 2  (or V.OPT 5/6 /depends on type).

Hope this helps

Hi Stefan,

the TV's are:

Beovision 6-26 type 9272 (label says software v5.2 however it has been upgraded to DVB-T by a previous owner so this may not be the case).

and Beovision MX4000 type 7872 (sw 3.1)

unfortunately the Menu item on the BV6 does not show the modulator option for on/off/auto as you described above, just the frequency of the output frequency so I think it must be a software issue.

I have to say i'm looking forward to the new cables arriving - it will be quite satisfying to see the TV in use again. I was inspired to bring it back into service by the Amiga thread posted recently and think i might do a similar retro console setup with it next.

Did you read the reference manual?

---------------------

To switch on the system modulator ...

> Press TV to switch on the television. > Press MENU to bring up the TV SETUP menu

and press to highlight OPTIONS. > Press GO to bring up the OPTIONS menu.

CONNECTIONS is highlighted already. > Press GO to bring up the CONNECTIONS menu

and press to highlight LINK. > Press GO to bring up the LINK menu, and press

to highlight MODULATOR. > Press or to reveal ON. > Press GO to store the setting, or ... > ... press EXIT to leave all menus without storing.

---------------------

It`s from the BV6-26 manual.

What source do you use for DVB-T - DTV?

Yes, strange. That`s why I asked for the DVB-T tuner.

My suspicion is, that the DVB-T upgrade might have disabled the TV tuner/RF modulator.

Maybe you get more information, when you have a look into the service menu or customer service menu.

Press: MENU 0 0 GO (service menu)

Press: MENU - highlight OPTIONS - RED GO (customer service menu).

I will have a look into my BV6-22 when I come home tonight.

I guess, your BV must be in TV mode - TV tuner - and maybe in V.OPT 1 or 2 - videomaster -.

Hope this helps

Stefan
