Hi guys,
I was getting ready to buy the new Horizon TV and is, as everybody else, waiting to see pics.
But after seeing the new Samsung Serif TV, designed by the Bourollec brothers, I'm not sure if the Horizon is worth the 3x price.
What are your thoughts?

Thanks for posting this, I hadn't heard of the Serif until your post. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as is perceived value, especially when talking about B&O.
I was struck at the similarity at Samsung's Serif website design and interaction with that of B&O / BeoPlay websites. But I have never been a fan of Samsung's lack of originality in many respects. This is my personal opinion, but I think the design for this television is gimmicky.

I could see the 3 sizes here in a shop. Beautiful design. The sound is not bad at all and good price (1500€ for the 40 inches UHD model). I like very much the possibility to leave it on with an 'art effect' on the screen. Very stylish! But I don't like the remote control without numbers on it.... I'm waiting to see the Horizon and hope that its price will not be more than twice the Serif (or I'll keep my Loewe UHD...).
This tv accepts a bluetooth speaker for any tv sound — you could bang&olufsen it up a bit!

I also didn't know about the Serif but Samsung have done some interesting things such as the Samsung Armani television that was also different.
I like the Serif, but it doesn't have that I know of, integrated sound system, one remote, motorised stand (maybe some castors)
This morning I helped to install the new Horizon TV in the dealers showroom.
Our first thought : I don't like the case and the trolley. The Google engine (menu) is not slow as some indicated, it looks to us reasonable fast. Picture quality is (spoken for myself) the same quality as the V1. The dealers engineer will install tomorrow this TV on the wall, maybe it would look better. Sound quality was in the same layer as the V1. Its a replacement for this television, no more or less. But we both liked the old V1 more as a whole, maybe not so important but there is a 2 centimeter edge around the screen and we were wondering how to keep this corners clean from any dust in time.
The dealers engineer and myself found it a shame that B&O was not being able to further develop there own menu and fall back to an advertising company as Google. We found it a television made for families who are used to work with computers, tablets and smartphones, we would not recommend this television to older generations who are not familiar to the digital world. ( And I can asure that my dealer has lots of older customers).
So sorry not to see the BV14/40, package and also TV was damaged by arrival. So the dealer did send it back but keeps the new wooden sound frame and mounted it to a black BV11/40 in the showroom. It was a stunning look for me, especially with this black framed beovision.

I think in a showroom it's very hard to compare picture quality.
New panel,new video engine...it must be better
To my eyes, this is nowhere near as attractive as the V1 was. That was truly a modern, techno Bauhaus vibe, but I guess many people don't dig that. The V1 would have been great in different colors too other than what they offered.

I really like them both but have yet to see them in the flesh - I think either would make a suitable replacement for my BV8-32 as it is used standalone with just Apple TV - I would most likely go with the B&O one though simply because it is B&O and I can use the same remote - depends on the price difference I guess and build quality. I cant help feeling that the Horizon will have better sound and that's just as important as the picture.
I think both have spotted that place in the market for people (like me) that want an uncomplicated TV that shares design similarities and compliments mid century surroundings etc. etc. etc. It's also really refreshing to see designs that are not simply thin TV's placed above a fireplace that are affordable. The Serif is the first non B&O TV that I've seen for years that I like - the only other one was the Kerracolor!

I bougth a Samsung TV about 3 years ago.
I did like it at first, it was so sleek and nice, white with a slim panel. But the more I used it the more my hatred for it started to grow. It was quite a fancy one with all the latest smart hub features. But the apps never worked proparly. If Spotify worked, Viaplay diden't work, and when Viaplay started to work, suddenly Spotify did not. It was really frustrating. The USB-ports kept dropping the connection to whatever was connected, the headphoneoutput was really noisy. Changing channels was slow. The list goes on.
But the picture was quite nice. I say was, becouse I sold it. Cheap.
But all in all, the user experience was so bad that I will never buy another Samsung TV, even if the Serif looks quite good, even in the flesh.
