I am thinking of changing back to a Beolab 5.1 set-up....

Found a way to use my Pioneer AVR as a driver for the Beolabs.
Thanks to Desmo and AV connection (LINK).

For the moment we have 2 Beolab 4000 speakers.
[We used to have an AVANT (later on Beovision 3-32) with Beolab 8000 + 6000, but when the TV broke, we bought a Pioneer Kuro Plasma screen (which still has a superb picture)].

I thought about using 1 Beolab 4000 as center speaker.
But how about the audio switch of the speaker? L(eft) or R(ight)?

Thanks!

Cables are available as L, R or Center cables - RCA+Trigger to Powerlink.
See this for details.
I suppose we need a L OR R cable and switch the speaker's switch to L OR R accordingly.
Center might just be for a Beolab 7.

Best regards
Ralf

PS: Using 2 Beolab as center speaker is not an option according to the support of company offering the RCA+Trigger to Powerlink cables: "Unfortunately it’s not possible to connect two speakers to the center terminal. It has to be one speaker per terminal, since the output won’t suffice for two speaker. My guess is that you have a front speaker setup already, so using them as L/R speakers won’t be an option."

It depends on the cable you are using. I made my own cables and when it is soldered to the left pin you must set it to left. When it is soldered to the right pin, you must set it to right, and when it's a center cable you can use both left and right, because it's just a monosignal for both left and right pins.

I'm also planning to use a beolab 4000 as centerspeaker, and i am going to use the centercable.

And it's also possible to use 2 beolab's 4000 as centers with a powerlink y splitter and two powerlink output cable's to the beolabs. In this case both speakers receive the same monosignal.

But for now if you have only two speakers (if i understood correctly) i would connect these to the left and right pre out of your pioneer receiver.

page 6 of the 4000 manual shows you how to set the speaker to LINE mode -   and you use a special cable to connect to the centre output of your pre AV amp  ( or surround processor ) , or in my case an old Panasonic DVD-A360 player which has a built in DTS decoder and analogue 5.1 phono output connectors on the back going direct to BL 4000's  :-)

Well, in the end I used a RCA+Trigger to Powerlink (Beolab set to LEFT) and then one Powerlink cable from Beolab 4000 (LEFT) to Beolab 400 (set to RIGHT). Works very well. Check this thread for details.
